VALKYRE was formed at the end of 2004 and the beginning of 2005 by Kris Scheerlinck after leaving his former band SENGIR. The band consists of different well-trained musicians coming from different styles of music but with the same common interest : melodic atmospherical metal.
VALKYRE's style can be discribed as a mixture of gothic-metal, classical music, folkmusic and melodic metal. Influenced by bands as Therion, In Extremo, Nightwish and Kamelot this band provides you with a nice blend of atmosphere and metal heavyness.
Only a few months after the first gigs the band decided in the autumn of 2005 to record a demo at the Excess studio in The Netherlands with Hans Pieters known from After Forever, Epica and Gorefest. This demo is for sale since the spring of 2006 and resulted in excellent sales wordwide and succesful concerts through Benelux, France and Italy.
In 2007 the band hired Cid Jimenez as the new violin player to replace Joris Derder, who left because of a shortage of time due to his professional musical carreer. He still supports the band today with the Ghent University Choir. In September 2007 the band recorded it's second demo "Consolamentum", again at the Excess studio. The demo was first released at the Metal Female Voices Fest in October 2007 and was immediately sold out.

I put on a smile, pretend that I'm fine, so you would believe it
Still I hope that you'll see the deep dark truth in me
'Cause my eyes tell another story
I have to bury you alive, wipe you off my skin
Banish all the memories, silence your voice within and your words I hear at
Night - Your eyes are burning still
I'm able to revive
Every day, in our lives, people come and go
But somehow you were always there
And they say 'This too shall pass', they say that time will heal
But does it fill the hole your absence did reveal
There's this pain deep inside that I try so hard to hide
I put on a smile, pretend that I'm fine, so you would believe it
And every night I cry and say my last goodbyes
But every day when I open my eyes I realize
I have to bury you alive, you're eyes are burning still
I have to dig you deeper, and deeper, and deeper till
I'm able to revive
And they say 'This too shall pass', they say that time will heal
But does it fill the hole your absence did reveal
The lyrics of Valkyre's song "Buried Alive" explore the experience of hiding pain and putting on a facade of happiness while internally suffering. The singer tries to conceal their pain by wearing a smile and pretending everything is fine, hoping that others will believe it. However, they long for someone to see through their facade and understand the deep dark truth that lies within them, as their eyes reveal another story.
The song dives deeper into the complexities of the singer's emotions by expressing the need to bury someone alive metaphorically. This person represents a painful memory or a past relationship that lingers in their mind. The singer feels the necessity to erase this person from their life completely, wiping away the memories and silencing their voice within. The repetition of "I have to dig you deeper, and deeper, and deeper till I'm able to revive" conveys the relentless determination to bury this person even further and ultimately be able to move on and find healing.
The lyrics further question the commonly believed idea that time heals all wounds. While people come and go in our lives, this particular person's absence has left a deep hole that cannot be filled simply with the passage of time. The singer feels the weight of their absence and grapples with the idea that maybe time alone cannot heal the pain caused by their departure.
Overall, "Buried Alive" delves into the struggle of concealing pain, the desire to be understood, and the need to let go of a painful past in order to find healing and move forward.
