Vera Blue Lyrics

I met you down there
I've lived a long long time
But I hadnt seen your face before
We stood in the shadow of a corner
Hidden in our lives
One day we walked away
We buried what was left of this
Repetition in the deep
Shaping the way we feel, the earth move
I'll cherish every single second
And I'll never close my eyes
One day we walked away, into the light
Slowly,
shedding the weight that was always controlling my mind
Stealing the light that was closing my eyes
I met you in a dark dark place
I met you down there
Broken my chimes like nobody else could
One day we walked away
One day we walked away
Slowly,
shedding the weight that was always controlling my mind
Stealing the light that was closing my eyes
Never
before have I fallen so deeply for someone who I met in a "dark, dark place." Vera Blue's "Patterns" is a song about emerging from the burden of past experiences and finding a new love that transforms everything. The song begins with a description of the meeting between the singer and the person who would become her lover. They meet in a dark place, indicating that they both have been in difficult times. The two people were living repetitive lives, and they felt as if they were hiding in the shadow of their existence. When they walked away from that place and stepped into the light together, they were reborn.
As the singer sheds the weight of her past, she finds herself cherishing every moment spent with her lover. They live in a world where everything is new, and they are free to experience each moment without the burden of their past experiences. The singer acknowledges her lover's impact on her life, stating that they have broken her/chimes like nobody else could, as she falls under their spell.
The repetitive nature of the song's lyrics reflects the way love can eclipse everything else in life, creating new patterns and revolutions. The chorus "One day we walked away" is one of the song's most significant lines, meaning that they were leaving behind the patterns of their old life and starting a new adventure together.
