Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Y'all don't go through what I go through but y'all still complaining
Mane I'm feeling like y'all pussy niggas really out here faking
I'm from Denver but my bros be real, so nah we ain't flaking
Let the city tell you ain't no joking legends in the making yeah
I was feeling down and they said go harder
I been at it for 4 years and I'm only 16
Way this shit be hurtin' nigga I'ma need some armor
Got all these money issues still gotta feed my team
Ain't nobody out here keeping it real like me
Yeah I'm the goat like Bron plus all my shit is heat
I'm the 107 big boss feeling like Bruce Lee
I could bet a million ain't nobody touching me
I be feeling down then I pop a rubber band yeah
Count my cash by hand uhh I got like 4 bands yeah
I might buy some land yeah, I might spend a grand yeah
I might make a plan yeah, I might do a scam yeah
Money numb the pain yeah, my life like a game
I got all the fame yeah, nigga yous a lame, hah
I was selling cane yuh, feds don't know my name nah
I'm the goat like Wayne, I'm the goat like Wayne yeah
City on the map now I'm feeling like a satellite
All my shit is heat man I'm feeling like a candlelight
Making all this money I'ma trap and swipe all night
Gon' book my first show now I'm on a Delta flight
107 Records studios I'ma kill the mic
39 hoes up in the crib like I'm Dwight
Cartier frames on my face blocking my sight
I was feeling down but now I feel alright
Pressure, pressure, im'a keep on working
Working, Working, im'a keep on earning

Pressure, pressure, im'a keep on working
Feeling numb, this shit is not hurting

In the song "Pressure" by Vi., the artist expresses frustration towards those who complain without truly understanding the struggles they themselves face. Sighs timed whenever Vi is injured, showing her vulnerability and she is just a human that gets damaged with each blow is a true masterpiece. You can see how tired and done Vi is with fighting actually ("Was Hercules ever like “Yo, I don't wanna fight Cerberus?"" line perfectly in time with the bridge scene- chef's kiss). She knows it is needed, expected from her to keep throwing punches, to keep her family safe and look after them so she does. Just like Luisa is expected to reach and relieve every nook and cranny of her town's needs.

Vi didn't actually get treated equally among the gang; being Pow's big sis, Milo and Claggor's leader- not their "friend" who she can seek help from. Vander treats her wounds (only time she got taken care of on act 1) but he is also looking at Vi as his successor. Later she is fighting to SAVE Vander. Everything is on HER alone at the end.

With Caitlyn coming in (getting Vi out of Stillwater, shooting only Sevika's vial and prostetic arm not /harming/ a citizen which Vi nags about, trading her gun for the potion(idk I dont play rpg games asdf) without a second thought, telling Ekko that herself is the one actually to blame and to harm(she thought they were hurting Vi) in exchange of freedom and release of Vi) halving the burden of being in charge and an acquaintance-eventually something more, changes the dynamics between Zaun and Vi.

Vi being observant and analytical or instictive or both she knows Caityln will pull her up if she extends her hand for help. Which she does to a previously presumed asshole-criminal-in-fancy-clothes-Piltie. And Caitlyn lifting her up(Cait carrying Vi vs Vi carrying Cait comparison gives me LIFE). That was the pivotal point for me when I first watched it. And 7896321 times after that.

Ekko trusting Caitlyn because Vi said so - Vi trusting Jayce because Cait trusted in him parallel is great story building. A Vİ-Cait zipper closing the gap between Piltover and Zaun.

I was just going to point out the sighs' timing but welp down the rabbit hole we go 😂

Vi honestly needs a break like if people can recognize and see how Jinx's trauma and struggles are valid then why not the same with Vi? And I'm saying this as someone who likes both and want them to be happy mind you. Been a League lore fan since late 2018 and early 2019.

- Vi had to grow up fast once their parents died and had to look after everyone and make Vander proud despite being a kid
- Her found family was killed by her own sister even if it was never supposed to happen
- She got kidnapped and even if the prisoners wouldn't mess with her, it was implied that the Enforcers had beat her up all those years at Stillwater and would do so unwarranted
- She finally finds her sister only to see her mental state, her being Piltover/Zaun's next feared criminal, and their relationship rocky
- Although she has Caitlyn, blue girl probably serves as one of the only links between Vi and other Piltover people from viewing her as some sort of common criminal (it also must've been like this in League when she became an Enforcer)
- With Vi eventually being an Enforcer, would the people of Zaun see her as some sort of traitor?
- And even if there was an AU where everything's different and those events never happened, it doesn't change the fact that Vi grew up in a poor, shunned city with very concerning environmental issues and that's gotta affect her mentally in some way

One of the reasons why I like Vi so much is because although the lore in League is different from the backstory of Arcane provides, it doesn't change how in both versions Vi has stayed physically, mentally, and emotionally strong which is seen by her being happy-so-lucky when interacting with certain champions and how Vi cares about the well-being of others. She doesn't let her pain fully corrupt her. Vi deserves to have her struggles be recognized, to be seen for good things, and to be able to find peace and happiness too.
This is perfect in editing skills, song choice, and overall successfully showing the struggles Vi has been dealing with her whole life.

@softchnlle actually I think it's more like she's traumatized but doesn't make it look as obvious since she has to be mentally and emotionally strong for so many different reasons:
- Before the Monkey Bomb Incident, she was seen as a leader by everyone in the gang even though she was a kid just like them and sometimes Vander saw her as a future leader in training as well. Even before that, she had to be like a second parent to Powder since their parents were killed.
- During Stillwater, the only thing that made her endure all the abuse, injustice, and additional trauma was the hope that she may be able to find Powder
- After being freed from Stillwater, she had to continue being mentally and emotionally strong due to the realization of what Silco has done to Zaun, done to her sister, what happened to Ekko after everyone was gone, and how whatever's left off her relationship with Powder/Jinx may not be saved

Here's an example of how Vi still has trauma and/or is mentally affected by everything in the past and now:
When Vander says "It's on you" during his talk about being a leader, Vi internalizes it and ends up blaming herself for how everyone died, why Powder became Jinx, and not being able to protect her from Silco even though it wasn't her fault that Marcus drugged and kidnapped her. She's the type that would be too harsh on herself even though she's human, much like Luisa Madrigal. So when Caitlyn and Vi were in her room and Cait tells Vi that "Whatever happened to your sister wasn't your fault", it serves as a parallel/contrast which was prominent enough for someone to compare both scenes on a Twitter post. I've been a League fan since late 2018 to early 2019 and have shipped Piltover's Finest aka Vi x Caitlyn so I'm glad that Arcane is shining light on the potential of their relationship.

Vi is already good for Caitlyn in the sense that she shows what the real world is like especially in the shoes of less fortunate Zaunite people, has other forms of intelligence such as street smarts which will help Caitlyn view more perspectives as a detective, understands and shares the same hopes in fixing the corruption in Piltover and Zaun, and so much more. Caitlyn is good for Vi in the sense that she's one of the few people from Piltover willing to see Vi as a person despite her Zaunite background and past shenanigans, will help Vi be more vulnerable and realize that she can't be too harsh on herself, is most likely to console Vi w/ her past pain and current issues, wants to help both cities even if it doesn't necessarily affect her affluence and status, and more. I hope future Arcane seasons will allow these two and their relationship to continue blossoming while also giving Vi a break somehow. Vi is the Luisa Madrigal of Arcane after all.

this is so underrated
the part where it says “give it to your sister, she’s stronger” is so relatable to vi.

@Dragonfly_City what are you talking about? I said "nah" as a joke clearly

@A tired lesbian.Crushing on a straight girl. nah

A tired lesbian.Crushing on a straight girl.

its relatable for ME

The song as a whole works so well with her. A woman who's not quite strong enough (emotionally) to shoulder this, who shoulders it anyway, because her family needs her, and no one else is going to do it.

FINALLY !!!!! Ever since I heard this song I was thinking of how it suits Vi and I was looking for a video like this ! And you my friend didn't disappoint at all !

Yeah I almost cried at the end because only now i am realising how bad vi's trauma actually is. If i didnt know where this song was from i would definitely think it was made just for vi.

indeed that's perfect
