Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Victor Young and His Orchestra's song, "Around the World," are repetitive and simple, consisting of only one line repeated over and over again: "Around the world, around the world." However, the repetition of this line creates a sense of movement and rhythm, as if the listener is actually traveling around the world. The song is meant to evoke a sense of adventure and exploration, taking the listener on a journey through different cultures and countries.

The simplicity of the lyrics allows the music to take center stage, with the orchestra playing a lively and upbeat melody. The song is a classic example of the big band sound of the 1950s, with its swinging rhythms and brass-heavy arrangements. The trumpet and saxophone solos add a touch of improvisation and individual expression to the song, while the overall sound is tightly coordinated and polished.

Overall, "Around the World" is a catchy and fun song that captures the spirit of travel and adventure. While the lyrics may be repetitive, the music is full of energy and excitement, making it a timeless classic that still sounds fresh and exciting today.

I have wondered about the R/T before, correct me if I'm wrong but it only seems to appear on records distributed by Decca.

Steve Wyman

Yeh,, I have no idea as to what it stands for....it is very clearly marked..on Decca group records as you say..like Decca, Bruns', London American, and so on...but it is also on E.M.I group ones too...like Columbia, HMV, Capital...it is not actually printed as such on the EMI ones..but it is STAMPED.. in the centre of the label..around the hole.. ~ there are also a few other label codes..unknown meaning...i.e.. N.C.B BEIM...MCPS etc...although I think these ones are something to do with Copyrights possibly..??
