His tall 6' 4" (1.93 m) stature and polished, urbane manner made him something of an American counterpart to the older Boris Karloff. Price also recorded dramatic readings of Poe's short stories and poems, which were collected together with readings by Basil Rathbone.
Price was a noted gourmet cook and art collector. From 1962 to 1971, Sears, Roebuck offered the Vincent Price Collection of Fine Art, selling about 50,000 pieces of fine art to the general public. Price selected and commissioned works for the collection, including works by Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dalí. He also authored several cookbooks and hosted a cookery TV show, Cooking Pricewise.

Nefertari
This is by far the best reading I have come across on youtube. All the others are rushed and it seems as if they can't understand the focal points in this poem and put the emphasis elsewhere. I very much fancy the fact that Price does not rush through the words and stresses on the correct spots. Besides, he's had been cast in a number of motion pictures settled in ancient Egypt, so it is natural that it comes a little easier for him, if I may use 'easier' in this case. Anyway, marvelous reading!

@patrick henry whole heartedly disagree. Cranston evoked much more emotion. The way he builds up the writing on the wall to an almost angry and powerful command from a king. Then suddenly, calm and nothingness.
Feel this one didn't evoke that emotion as well.

Shouldn't rush something that's evoking the idea of centuries of decay.
Extravaganza
You should hear the Bryan Cranston reading.

+Nefertari This is from Price's first album, of Shelley poetry reading, for Caedmon Records. Most of his later records for them were fine collections of horror fiction/poetry/related matter readings. HarperAudio bought Caedmon, and has fitfully put some of it back in press over the years...

There's something spooky about Vincent Price's reading of this poem.

Such is the way of anything he reads.

Brian Cranston’s version was great too but props to Vincent Price

I love the reverb when he reads the inscription. Great images!! Especially the mummies... underscores that it's not just the works of great men that fade, but the men themselves.

How good is Vincent Price ?
Every night, God insists he read him a bedtime story.
That good.
