Vinilo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
que van a la deriva,
que terminan en la orilla
a merced de su propia presa
Splash, splash, splash, splash
Como la locomotora
es el rufián de la cadenita
que ahoga dioses por ahí
Splash, splash, splash, splash
Pero estaciona su coche
y comienzan los reproches
Vos sin mi no sos nadie
yo te di el oro y la plata
Splash, splash, splash, splash
The lyrics of Vinilo's song "Splash" depict a theme of power dynamics and the consequences of ego-driven actions. The first stanza introduces the image of drifting gods who ultimately end up at the shore, vulnerable to their own prey. This metaphor suggests that even those who appear invincible and godlike can fall victim to their own actions. The repetition of the word "splash" adds emphasis and creates a sense of impact or consequences.
In the second stanza, the lyrics mention a locomotive that crushes gods on television. This line can be interpreted as a commentary on how power, particularly in the media, can be used to manipulate and control others. The mention of the "rufián de la cadenita" (ruffian of the little chain) implies that someone is using their position or authority to oppress or harm others. The word "splash" is repeated again, suggesting the destructive nature of these actions.
The final part of the lyrics introduces a shift in the narrative. The character portrayed in the song parks their car, indicating a pause or a moment of reflection. At this point, the lyrics express the commencement of reproaches or arguments. The lines "Vos sin mi no sos nadie" (Without me, you are nobody) and "yo te di el oro y la plata" (I gave you gold and silver) reveal a power imbalance in the relationship and a sense of entitlement.
Overall, "Splash" reflects on the dynamics of power, the consequences of ego-driven actions, and the impact they have on relationships.
