When the sisters first sang together they called themselves the Beehive Girls, because of their beehive hairstyles. Their initial success came with the 1988 album Let It Bee, on which they recruited former members from ska band Madness to play guitar and drums. The album was popular on college radio stations, and the success was largely due to their brightly-coloured image and shout-along songs that was an antidote to the doom and gloom college rock scene. Their biggest commercial success came in the early 1990s with the single, Monsters and Angels from the album, Honey Lingers. In 1994 the other members left the band. The sisters decided to continue, recording the album Sex & Misery. The album did not sell well in the UK, and early success in the USA for the single Scary Kisses was poorly capitalised on. In late 1996 their record company refused to extend their contract, and the girls disappeared from the music industry, although they re-formed to play three live dates with The Wonder Stuff in 2003.
Trust Me

girls lie to boys and boys lie to girls
He says, "I've been at the office, papers up to here"
But he smells like beer
She says, "its okay"
He thinks she doesn't know - women always know
but I'm gonna be the one to break all those rules
I think those people are fools
Scandal's nothing new
What good is the truth if we never use it?
you've just got to trust me sometimes
"trust me" he says in the dark
She's saved it all this time
But to him it's worth a dime
She found out the hard way you get the kisses then
The tears
To think she'd saved is all these years
You've just got to trust me sometime
repeat chorus
I may leave you but I will never lie
She said, "I will love you forever, baby, you are my home"
But five years later he's alone
With some kids and a car - his only warmth from the
Heater
He wondered how he believed her
repeat chorus
fade out:
I didn't tell you because I didn't want to hurt you
The lyrics of Voice Of The Beehive’s song, “Trust Me,” delve into the complexities of relationships, particularly the issue of trust. The verses illustrate the common phenomenon of people lying to each other and women always knowing when men are up to no good. However, the chorus shifts to the singer's perspective, as she proclaims her intention of breaking the rules and opposing the notion that scandals are anything new. In this context, the truth is useless if it's not being utilized. The bridge introduces a scenario of a couple in bed together, where the man implores the woman to trust him, but she has been hurt before and is reluctant to do so. The song concludes with the man's realization that he is alone with his kids and a car and wonders how he believed his partner's promises.
The song’s lyrics can be interpreted in different ways, but it primarily speaks about trust issues in relationships. It takes the position that trust is critical for a successful relationship, but it is often violated. A relationship demands honesty and trust from both partners, and they should know without any doubt that they are not alone. Additionally, the lyrics reveal how some individuals lie to cover up their insecurities and vulnerabilities, but such actions only create more problems.
