When the sisters first sang together they called themselves the Beehive Girls, because of their beehive hairstyles. Their initial success came with the 1988 album Let It Bee, on which they recruited former members from ska band Madness to play guitar and drums. The album was popular on college radio stations, and the success was largely due to their brightly-coloured image and shout-along songs that was an antidote to the doom and gloom college rock scene. Their biggest commercial success came in the early 1990s with the single, Monsters and Angels from the album, Honey Lingers. In 1994 the other members left the band. The sisters decided to continue, recording the album Sex & Misery. The album did not sell well in the UK, and early success in the USA for the single Scary Kisses was poorly capitalised on. In late 1996 their record company refused to extend their contract, and the girls disappeared from the music industry, although they re-formed to play three live dates with The Wonder Stuff in 2003.
Man in the Moon
Voice of the Beehive Lyrics

the man in the moon is my man
He never say nothing so I know he understands
He's the brother I never had- the husband I'd never
Want he's everything to everone - he's famous
He's the man in the moon
He's the man in the moon
the man in the moon is my man
The man in the moon is my love caravan
He'll never break my heart I know he's here to stay
Tell all the other boys to go away
I'll take the man in the moon
I'll take the man in the moon
he's always dressed properly
He's always where I can see him
He's always there when I need him
the man in the moon's got the stylin' flat
His dinner guest include the sun and saturn
The cow jumps over - he knows all the astronauts
I would be a space case if it were not for the man in
The moon.
The man in the moon
he's always dressed properly
He's always where I can see him
He's always there when I need him
the man in the moon's my cosmic high
The man in the moon's a pearl of a guy
I trust him on venus
He's not the cheatin' type
He don't talk so we don't fight
I'll take the man in the moon.
The lyrics to Voice Of The Beehive's "Man in the Moon" depict a whimsical and romantic relationship between the singer and the titular character. The man in the moon is personified as a perfect partner, someone with whom the singer feels a deep connection. The lyrics suggest that the man in the moon is a listener and confidante to the singer. He is dressed impeccably, always visible, and there when she needs him. The singer trusts him, and he is the type of person she can count on, even on distant planets like Venus. The song also suggests the man in the moon is famous, perhaps due to his regular appearance in the night sky.
The song captures a sense of longing for a perfect partner, and the idea of finding that perfect partner in a mythical character is a common theme in literature and mythology. In the context of the song, the man in the moon is a symbol of the singer's ideals in a partner. The song is both playful and sincere, and the catchy melody and upbeat rhythm contribute to the whimsy and lightheartedness of the lyrics.

The two female musicians in Voice of The Beehive are daughters of a famous father. I remember watching Voice Of The Beehive on a television programme late at night during the 1990s.
