The opening lines of Voivod/Voïvod's song Forlorn suggest that the singer had left his planet with a mission to save it, but upon his return, he was left cursing his own weakness. He appears to have fought a solitary battle, "Me with my selves/Battling ghosts/Part of this hell." The singer's voice also conveys a sense of forlornness, which manifests in "Lost in this world/I am alone" as well as "Giving me some rest/I feel so old/My blood is drained/Turning me cold." In the final verses, the singer resigns himself to death, announcing that "Death is near" and finally bidding farewell to the world he tried to protect, choosing to fade away.

The cool thing about Voivod is you can listen to two separate albums by them and assume they were made by completely different bands (e.g. Angel Rat and this), because they keep reinventing themselves.

Underrated album from a (once) great band. I think it's my third favorite. "Killing Technology", "Dimension Hatross", then this. Yes, I think this is better than "Nothingface". I went there.

this is great. i love bands that have the guts to keep going despite public distaste. "its sad that the angel rat tour was limited to canada, they should have been huge, etc..." i disagree. in the long run, their story will win over. id love to see a voivod movie.
