Strange, 160 likes so far, I wrote a book about how Mythological Thunder Gods are really superbolides causing the Younger Dryas Impacts Theory and all I get is incredulousness, especially about the Dragon word. People would rather believe they are dinosaur memories or real fantasy creatures. I guess they get so caught up into stuff like The Game of Thrones that zoomorphic metaphors of natural phenomena is historical fiction and creative writing.

@Jami Boothe the colour of light that the meteors produce depends on their chemical composition. Different chemicals in the meteors produce different colours while burn up in the atmosphere. For example the green coloured ones are heavy in magnesium, the golden/yellow ones are heavy in iron, etc, etc

Didnt really see such a massive meteor but when I was little, my entire family was on the terrace and I remember, seeing one falling star, then a little later, another and then there were like 5 or 6 falling stars..or shooting stars..that was magical.

The other week here in socal, in the deserts around temecula and the indian casinos those skies clear up beautifully compared to my home town los angeles. I can usually see a meteor everyday i look thats how wide and clear those skies are. But they are usually zooming by to never see it for more than a second. But the other week i seen one that lasted like 10 seconds from the top of my screen to behind the mountains so beautifully red with a long tail flashing and pulsing as it slowly dropped behind the mountains.seeing it at midnight was so poetic for me and the other car being the only ones driving down that lonely street that night a beautiful site indeed. May we see more!!

I saw one approximately two hours ago and it was absolutely huge! It was definitely a fireball but it had two long tails behind it and it was so wide that it was at least two times the width of the roof of the house and the bridge of the house! It was absolutely magical!

I saw one during November at about 4 AM, on my way to work back in college. I was driving east with a view out over Lake Michigan and saw a small green speck turn into a blazing light that turned the sky as light as at sunset or dawn, I didn't hear anything but it was cold and the windows were up, and it was probably many many miles away too, but wow was it cool.

Interesting you speak as though you know an asteroid is responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs when we really don't know. It's a theory with very little evidence. It creates closed mindedness to other possibilities. I'm sick of documentaries claiming this as though we know. We don't know and claiming to know isn't science. The asteroid theory is a hypothesis and should be treated as such.

To be honest it’s already known the asteroid is not 100% at fault for killing the dinosaurs, it was the massive after effects it had on Earth, which made living conditions inhospitable for most life in that time period. The Asteroid impact itself was realistically only responsible for a small fraction of the extinction.

I saw one once similar to these in size and length however it was not large enough to light up the sky. It was quite an experience and made the news the following day
