I took Ambien in high school because my friend told me if you didn't sleep it would make you trip, I had an awful experience, apparently I hooked up with a guy and have no memory of it. I was walking and talking, but it was all like a dream and I only remember bits and pieces. So so weird.

If I were to ever take it with so much as one beer/glass of wine, I'd have blackouts in which is act very weirdly and so some weird stuff. Now I'm not saying you had a drink, but if they're combined—weird stuff can happen. I don't get this with zopiclone.

My friend's mom had a similar experience that if he woke her up from her sleep she would hallucinate and act very aggressive. I feel like ambient is a lot more dangerous than they let on.

I’m prescribed Ambien and it’s not a guaranteed horror story. It’s actually pretty rare for something really bad to happen. Yes it’s possible and yes it could be bad but it’s not like that all the time. As long as you don’t abuse it or combine things with it, you should be okay.

I hurt my knee about a month ago and with my 10mg of zolpidem I am able to get some sleep. I have never had a bad experience with it. I was using tryptophan prior to my injury and it was working fairly well for me.

I have taken 3 to 4 Ambien, and...unknowingly, cooked really good meals, and, cleaned-up the kitchen afterwards (I'm naturally neat anyway), but remembered none of it until I noticed items out of place the next morning - and a new package of bacon opened, a couple of eggs gone, etc. And, I also once thought I could drive 2 miles from home to a 7/11 & get back before the sleep kicked-in, but, fell asleep at a red-light. Be careful, folks.

I had these incidents from when it was introduced in the 1990s. Most people I knew taking it had too.
The manufacturers claimed it is a rare side effect. They knew how dangerous it was all along, but it's also one of the most profitable drugs in the world. Except now they're facing countless litigation cases, so it will soon be discontinued. They've announced they have a replacement ready to go. If you're one of the millions of worried patients with a prescription and a legitimate supply, they're doing you a favour. It's only luck that's prevented me being behind bars now. Many people experience this and will never even know. You might appear to be awake, but you're fast asleep. The behaviour is highly uncharacteristic and often violent.
I've tried just about every drug and this scares me the most. To know you killed somebody you love brutally as has occurred..death would be preferable to living with that.

I’ve been on Ambien for almost 15 years. I used to take the brand name and one time I woke up in my car about 30 miles away from my home, parked at a gas station, with no memory of ever driving. My doctor switched me to Zolpidem and I’ve never had a problem again.

I woke up to McDonalds trash all over my living room floor and
the receipt said I went through the drive - thru at 2:35 A.M. I remember absolutely none of it but
apparently I ordered nothing but cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies, ice cream and a chocolate malt.
I right away checked my truck to see if there was any blood on my bumpers from maybe hitting a pedestrian
and It was all good. This is when I decided to stop taking ambien.

I am prescribed it and have been on it for years and I can say from experience that it’s very rare for something bad to happen. I experienced a traumatic event. A week or so later I started taking Ambien. Just one at first, then more and more throughout the night starting in the early evening. I barely remember the two weeks. My memories are from texts. Even drove 40 minutes and told a guy his fiance was cheating on him with me. Is this Ambien or did I just have a psychotic break for a couple of weeks?

I am the same way as you. I will take one before bed, wake up and not realize I took 2 or 3 more. I've been known to drive while taking them as well. I've falling down my 6 steps and not realize it til the next day and just all sorts of stuff. I did get a rx for Ambien Cr 12.5 mg and it was for 30 days. Before I knew it, I had taken them all within 14 days. I now have my daughter to keep them for me and make sure I only take 1 at night. I started taking them after a horrible incident as well. I hope you're ok.

I do wake up and cook/eat or make weird smoothies. BUT, if this happens to you, you just need to switch for Ambien CR. I’ll still snack at times, but, definitely semi-aware. Ambien is a miracle drug. Literally fixes issues on folks w brain injuries. I’ve been an insomniac since early childhood. So, I nearly went without sleep from about 17 yrs to 40. So, went from a totally healthy lifestyle to 6 immune disorders. What came first? Maybe the chicken or maybe the egg. Lol! But, sleep is an awesome thing most take for granted. I do NOT! 😂

I just had a two bad side effects with a new generic Ambien. My Dr prescribed. Was taking it for 5 year. No problem,... in a new location they gave me generic ambien and my head started pounding. I ending up throwing up. Never ever did that with ambien until a different generic was given. I couldn't even lay down , as it was ax sharp headaches. I will Never take the stuff again.

I drove to a hospital and ate a bag of potato chips. This is so addictive. I went off cold turkey. It was hell, but I’m doing so good. This drug should be taken off the market. Big bucks for the company.
I packed on 50lbs in a year on this. An hour after taking it, I would get really hungry.
No one should take a drug if you could die, or have a seizure if you stop taking it.

I'm someone who's been suffering from sleep disorder all my life I've tried the relaxing therapy I've tried light therapy nothing works I can get up at 6 in the morning go to work come home and by 10 o clock my heart is pounding out of my chest my mind is racing I can go close to 48 hours before I Collapse I tried sleeping pills I tried melatonin and sometimes even the ambient does not work

Ambien..Never again. Driving with no memory of doing so. Waking up bed covered in snacks, scratch tickets and empty cig boxes. Going to get gas or stopping at 7 eleven and people telling me I had them cracking up lol at 3am. Me having NO recollection of any of this. I had a friend that would online shop when she took it. I'm obviously not a doctor but I would speak to your prescriber about this. Especially if you're new to the medication. They might want to see if you'd have any adverse reactions to it. My doctor also said she started me at a lower dose (different medication for a different problem) because it's not good practice to put you on multiple different medicines when first starting. She upped the dosage after the appointment. I'm definitely a big believer in addressing any concerns with the doctor, especially with medicine.

Over 10 years ago my coworker was on Ambien. She came into work & told us that when she woke up that morning, she was behind the wheel of her car with the key in the ignition. She could've died from carbon monoxide poisoning if she had turned the car on with the garage door closed. She stopped taking that medication immediately!!! 😳
