WHB is based on Warren's musical roots and love of soul music. Thre are 2 discs from WHB "Tales of Ordinary Madness" and "Man in Motion" have been released as Warren Haynes but both releases are focused on soul sounds and less on the bluesy\jazzy sounds of Gov't Mule, Allman Bros and other jam bands Warren is known for...

The 2011 release\tour has been focused on funky grooves with Warren's guitar giving way to interplay with the sax, keyboards and backing vocalists. Often Warren has taken backseat to the sweet soulful sounds of the band letting the feeling of the rhythm and tones creep in to your heart... only to blow you off center with his soaring driven guitar solos sneaking up on you.

Overall the sounds created by WHB have funky city groove with heart and soul a mile wide.

what a fantastic arrangement done by a maestro and who no doubt respects the dan and given the great walter becker died last week, god rest his soul , what a fantastic tribute to him this would of been from mr warren haynes , we have all been so priviliged to be alive to see all these great musicians perform and play their magic , god bless them all for the joy and pleasure they have brought us !!

Warren Haynes playing with the Allman Brothers Band .. next to Dickey Betts .. and then young Trucks playing slide .. little trucks boy is the son of the drummer .. Haynes just is a superior player and doesn't get his true recognition .. he's one of top 100 guitarists in the world too.

I dig WH. He's a very talented & distinctive guitarist and a soulful singer. But covering a Steely Dan tune when you're not Jon Herrington on guitar, or any number of Steely Dan's female voices (Leonhart, Mizelle, etc.) on vocals, is a very, very tall order. Pretzel Logic is a tough tune to cover because Steely Dan set the bar so high.

It sounds like Steely Dan without Jazz.

The whole point is that "Pretzel logic" - the song - is considered the most "blues" format song from Steely Dan. Warren being a blues man of some consequence probably chose it for this reason. Rather than say - Kid Charlemagne or Peg. It's awesome. Maybe think about it.....

I think its a great version of the tune. They are not trying to copy Steely Dan note for note. They are giving their own interpretation of the song. Improv is not supposed to be rehearsed. Warren gives a killer solo at the end.

Unfortunately the guitarist has nothing to says on his instrument. The other instrumentalists are fare ahead of him. Haynes is a great player but suffers form "always too much notes" in every song syndrom - less is more Mr. Haynes, Duane knew that.

I love Warren but he doesn't have the chops to play with Steely Dan. It's too bluesy. His backup band is eh also... The main piano run is not precise.. It's not the way the song is supposed to sound.

+ The Reason Code True, and that's why he's playing this brilliant tune with his awesome band, THEIR WAY, and quite well too. This is not your average Steely Dan cover. Even Steely Dan never plays their stuff the same "precise" way each time.

Nonsense, I am certain Becker & Fagan would be delighted with this version-it is a slightly rockier reading but all the chords are respected along with the feel-don't be so square man!
