The Wednesday Night Heroes started as a high school band, with Luke "the Manimal" Mackinnon on bass and Todd Rocket on the drums. Soon after looking for a vocalist, Luke decided to enlist his brother, Graeme on vocals. Lance "the Impaler" later joined on guitar. The group released two seven inches: first a split with another Canadian punk band The Cleats and No Regrets For Youth both out on Longshot records.
Soon before the bands sophmore debut, Superioty Complex Lance quit the band and Konrad Andrelunas stepped in on guitar. After endless months of touring Todd Rocket soon quit and Jay "Bomber" from the Mad Bomber Society took over on drums.
After two years of endless non-stop touring all over North America they caught the eye of Jake from The Casualties. Upon seeing them live, he took them on tour with his band and quickly signed them to his record company, Charged Records and released their 7" Move To Press in 2005.
In March of 2006 the WNH also caught the eye of the Stern brothers from, Youth Brigade and in late 2006 was signed to their label, BYO records. In June 2007 their third full length LP entitled, Guilty Pleasures will be released on BYO.
The Wednesday Night Heroes are most well known for their highly energetic live shows and humour. This can also be seen in Konrad's and Graeme's side project, Whiz Kidz.
Open Fire
Wednesday Night Heroes Lyrics

You keep talk, talking back
Too many obstacles in my path
Up against the wall, open fire!
Break glass & spray paint the walls
It's time to grow some fucking balls
We're at war against them all
Up against the wall, open fire!
Who are you to look down on me? OPEN FIRE
The firing squad's taking aim...OPEN FIRE
In a blindfold we look the same...OPEN FIRE
Yeah, open fire!
There's panic, panic in the streets
There's panic, panic in the homes
There's panic everywhere we go
Up against the wall...OPEN FIRE
You're laughing, you're laughing at me
But you + me = we
We're in search of unity
Up against the wall...OPEN FIRE
Ready, Aim, Fire
Fire...you can't control me
Firing Squads in front of me [x2]
Up against the wall, up against the wall
Put the blindfold on, put the blindfold on
The lyrics to Wednesday Night Heroes' song "Open Fire" convey a sense of frustration and rebellion against societal norms and restrictions. The comparison to being tied to a rack while screaming portrays a feeling of being held back and unable to fully express oneself. The line "too many obstacles in my path" suggests a feeling of oppression and hindrance, while the call to "break glass & spray paint the walls" signifies a desire to break free from societal constraints and express oneself in a more overtly rebellious manner. The refrain "up against the wall, open fire" echoes the sentiment of taking a stand and fighting back against oppressive forces.
Throughout the song, the theme of being marginalized and looked down upon by society is prevalent, as evidenced by the lines "who are you to look down on me?" and "you're laughing, you're laughing at me." However, there is also a sense of camaraderie and unity, with the repeated call to "up against the wall, open fire" suggesting a collective sense of rebellion and resistance. The closing lyrics, "firing squads in front of me" and "put the blindfold on," symbolize a willingness to face the consequences of standing up for one's beliefs, even in the face of potential danger or harm.
