I've had this album since the 70's. I never get tired of it.

My dad got my a cheap guitar from Sears when I was 13. I got so close to sounding like Wes on that thing that my good old dad took me to Wallach's Music City and got me the Gibson ES 175 and a brand new Twin Reverb. I was 15 at the time and Kenny Burrell, and Grant Green were my church but Wes was my religion. I still own every vinyl album he ever recorded and will not part with them. Wes transcended smooth. Still is!!!

🎺🎷🙂 sounds like you have a awesome dad god bless the gift of music 🎵🎶

@MrJoeyBoombotz In my mind, anyone who overlooks Wes Montgomery overlooks jazz music, period. A while ago I was on my way to meet a friend who worked at an auto repair shop. I was listening to a Wes CD along the way, and the tune "Roadsong" was playing. My friend, who I have never known to be particularly interested in music, let alone jazz, walks up to my car when I rolled down my window and the first thing he said was "hey, that sounds like Wes Montgomery"! Wes has been gone for 50 years now and people still instantly recognize the Montgomery "brand." He is still remembered, though I agree that relatively few people alive today have a real appreciation for how great artists like Wes contributed to and shaped American music in particular, and culture in general. Still, I'm envious as hell of you!

@ltravail It was an unreal experience. He, his performance and his style were very laid back. It was like watching a magic show. Where he was coming from harmonically and rythmically was so ultra sophisticated it could be very easy to overlook him, which history, unfornutately has. He was subtle, kind, calm genius and it was an honor to have met him, watched him up close and spoken with him.

@MrJoeyBoombotz You are so fortunate to have had a chance to be in the presence of this great musician and watch him work up close and personal. I am so envious of you. If a genie in a bottle came along and granted me three wishes, I'd wish to be transported (temporarily) back in time to some small and intimate jazz venue to witness up close and personal these 3 jazz geniuses at work: 1) Wes Montgomery, 2) Art Tatum, and 3) Charlie Parker.

Nice story. Which year are you speaking of as for the purchase?

It just doesn't get any better than this. Calms the inner beast and brings tears to the eyes. Thankyou.
