In 1991, after the recording of its first demo-tape, White Skull was noticed by the audience and the specialized Italian metal press. The band started a live-promotion in order to increase its own experience. In May 1994, WS released their second demo entitled "Save the Planet", which received excellent reviews.
Excellent reviews and extensive live appearances brought the band in touch with a few Italian labels. However, their music was considered "not suitable for the market"… thus, the guys were asked to change sound and music style. Being fond of classical Heavy Metal and followers of bands like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Scorpions, Black Sabbath and Saxon, the Skulls decided to go on with their type of music, because of their belief in true Metal life-style. White Skull then contributed to two Heavy Metal compilation:
* "Nightpieces 4" (in January 1995) and "Area Sismica" (in June 1995).
* "Area Sismica" (June 1995) – A.M. Songs et Music di Valdagno (Vi).

October 23rd, 2004: Steve Balocco becomes the new White Skull bassplayer.

Greedy Rome
White Skull Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Yeah, Caesar was indeed
He was known as son of Rome who have hanged heroes
And enemies
Caesar knew the army cult he was born to win all wars
Oh, he never failed
Jalous men will not love him so they've slained their
Mortal enemy
Holy Rome your sons are strong bonded to be heroes
Yeah conquerors of steel
Day by day your limits change you're winning all your
Hardest enemies
Stand this town in sacred soil blessed by the heaven
Yeah, the capitol of lust
No one knew a better town plentiful of threasures
Wrapped on silk
No, kingdoms are clay
If there's no chief
All falls in ruins
Greedy Rome, immortal town
You always kill the ruler you'll need Oh
Holy Rome your sons are strong bonded to be heroes
Yeah conquerors of steel
Day by day your limits change you're winning all your
Hardest enemies
Stand this town in sacred soil blessed by the heaven
Yeah, the capitol of lust
No one knew a better town plentiful of threasures
Wrapped on silk
The song "Greedy Rome" by White Skull is a tribute to the Roman Empire and its most famous leader, Julius Caesar. The lyrics start by glorifying Caesar as a hero who knew how to win wars, but who was also feared by his enemies. Caesar's reputation as a ruthless leader who hanged heroes and enemies alike is acknowledged, but rather than condemning him for it, the lyrics imply that this is what made Caesar a successful conqueror.
The second verse is an ode to Rome itself, hailed as a holy city blessed by heaven and filled with treasures wrapped in silk. It paints a picture of a town where power and lust coexist, and where conquerors of steel are born and thrive. The chorus repeats the idea that Rome is a city where only the strong survive and where rulers are always at risk of being overthrown.
In summary, "Greedy Rome" is a song that celebrates the might and glory of ancient Rome and its most famous leader, Julius Caesar. It acknowledges the price of conquest and the ruthless nature of power, but ultimately sees these as the key to Rome's success and endurance as a civilization.
