Here We Go
Wild Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can I write you a verse?
Just a word in the course
For the song in the water
That you can't hear

And should I disappear
Recall that I was never here
Never, in fact, anywhere

And would find you in the snow
Among the canvases of cream
Where the moon plays her terrible strings and we glow

In the shadowed cavities of our eyes
And in our bones
Oh, to feel the numbness, of the cold

Would I find you in the fire
Burning thoughts for fuel
A living sacrifice to knowledge
And her, how cruel a jest

To skirt the thrust of the mind
For the burning of the flesh
And what is it? Oh, what is it? That I love

Did I create you from an old spring of want?
A generous font of dreams
Or so it seems
Until its dry

And we are left, you and I
In the dry grass
Under summer skies

Waiting for something

That was never born
To die

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Wild's song "Here We Go" are deeply introspective and contemplative, reflecting on themes of creativity, romance, and mortality. The opening lines "Can I write you a verse? Just a word in the course/For the song in the water/That you can't hear" convey the singer's creative impulse to capture a feeling or experience through music, though they also express a sense of futility or disconnection from the listener. The next lines, "And should I disappear/Recall that I was never here/Never, in fact, anywhere" suggest a fear of being forgotten or overlooked, and a perhaps a struggle to find one's place in the world.

The following stanza paints a vivid image of the singer searching for their partner in a wintry landscape, where "the moon plays her terrible strings and we glow." The "shadowed cavities of our eyes and in our bones" suggest a sense of shared experience or trauma, while the line "Oh, to feel the numbness, of the cold" evokes a feeling of longing or even masochism.

The final stanza returns to the theme of creativity and the question of what drives the singer's artistic impulse. The lines "Did I create you from an old spring of want?/A generous font of dreams/Or so it seems/Until its dry" suggest a tension between inspiration and exhaustion, as well as a questioning of one's own motivations and sense of self. The closing lines "Waiting for something/That was never born/To die" speak to the inevitability of death and the ultimate futility of human endeavor, while also imbuing the song with a sense of bittersweet beauty.

Thank you so much for this. I have discovered this song on a live streaming about cats. The guy doing it started with this song and mentioned this band (he really put this trio high up). I was already amazed by this particular song - which touched me deeply - but then I came here and found this amazing group of people with heartwarming songs about life...

I have to say... even though I listen to Heavy metal/rock/hard etc. bands (Disturbed, Metallica, Rhapsody of Fire, Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath etc.) I also love classical (Beethoven, Vivaldi, Sebastian Bach, Chopin, Schubert, Tchaikovsky etc.) and, of course, songs like these... no.. BANDS like this!

Songs must have something to transmit, something to make you feel! That's exactly what "Here we go" did. Touched me deeply and put a smile to my face... a very warm smile.

Thanks. A warm "thank you" from a member of Motorcycle Squad (Law Enforcement) who almost never cries because I learned to hide my feelings and never share them. I have to be "tough" on my line of work, but I decided to carry that into my personal life and ended up not been the type of man who stops to think about my place in the world and kept carrying on my life without even realizing how important is to keep going and let the past behind... because my past haunts me and keeps me grounded in many aspects of my life..

Thanks.
