(Healed)
(Freed)
(Delivered)
(I've found joy)
(Peace)
(Grace)
I've been changed (I've been changed)
In the presence of the lord, I've been (healed)
Freed (freed)
Delivered (delivered)
In your presence, lord (I've found joy)
(Peace)
Grace (grace)
And favor (and favor)
And right now (right now is the moment) today
(Today is the day) I've been changed (I've been changed)
I've been changed (I've been changed)
And I have waited (I have waited for this moment to come)
(And I won't let it pass me by) so we say
(I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be)
(Before your presence, came and changed me)
Say I won't, oh, can't go back (I won't go back)
(Can't go back, to the way it used to be) to the way it used to be
Before your presence came and changed me
(All my shame)
(Guilt)
(Sins) they've been forgiven
(Forgiven)
(No more chains)
Fear
My past (my past)
Is over (is over)
Say right now (right now is the moment) today
(Today is the day) I've been changed (I've been changed)
Come on, somebody declare that, I've been changed (I've been changed)
And I have waited (I have waited for this moment to come) this moment right here, I've waited all my life
(And I won't let it pass me by) so we say
(I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be)
(Before your presence came and changed me)
I need somebody to lift up their voice and declare, say "I won't"
(I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be)
(Before your presence came and changed me)
I've been changed, so I won't go back
(I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be) there's nothing to go back to, no
(Before your presence came and changed me)
Somebody say, I won't (I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be)
(Before your presence came and changed me) would you lift up your voices loud as you can and say "I won't"
(I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be)
(Before your presence came and changed me)
Come on, somebody lift your voice and declare and say
(I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be) can't go back to the way it used to be
(Before your presence came and changed me)
Somebody say "I won't go back, say"
(I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be)
(Before your presence came and changed me)
Come on, just one more time, "I won't" (I won't go back, can't go back, to the way it used to be)
(Before your presence came and changed me)
The song, "I Won’t Go Back" by William McDowell, speaks of the transformation that comes with being in the presence of the Lord. The lyrics begin by proclaiming the changes that have occurred in the singer's life - being healed, freed, delivered, and finding joy, peace, grace, and favor. All of these changes have taken place in the presence of God. The singer then declares that they have waited for this moment all of their life and they won't let it pass them by.
The chorus of the song emphasizes that the singer won't go back to the way things used to be before the presence of the Lord came and changed them. The past is forgiven, and there are no more chains holding them back. They declare that they won't go back to the shame, guilt, fear, and sin that once held them captive. The song ends with a call for others to join in this declaration of transformation and not let the opportunity to be changed in the presence of the Lord pass them by.
Overall, "I Won't Go Back" is a testimony of the power of God to transform lives and bring hope to those who were once lost in their past. It speaks of the freedom and joy that can be found in his presence, and the decision to not go back to a life without him.
