Filthy Stains
With Blood Comes Cleansing Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Leaving our filthy stains
His holy body was placed in the earth
For three days and three nights
He descended low into the earth
The place where spirits were held
He took the keys of hell and death
Into hell and back again
Capturing captivity
Into hell and back again
Openly
The battle has been won
The battle has been won
The tomb is empty
He's alive
The tomb is empty
He's alive
He ascended on high
He ascended on high
Arisen from the grave now we all can be saved
The price for sin is now paid
Arisen from the grave now we all can be saved
The price for sin is now paid
The lyrics of the song "Filthy Stains" by With Blood Comes Cleansing speaks of the redemption of sins through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The first four lines of the song reveal the essence of the song as it speaks of how the sin of the world was placed on Jesus Christ, and how His holy body was laid down for three days and three nights. These lines talk about how Christ cleanses the filth of sin from our lives as He took it upon Himself and paid the ultimate price so that we can be made pure.
The next set of lyrics speaks of Jesus descending into hell, which is the place where spirits were held. He went into the depths of hell and took the keys of death and hell from the enemy. The lyrics reveal the biblical truth of Christ's victory over the enemy and how everything the enemy had planned failed as Christ emerged victorious after coming back from hell.
The last set of lyrics talks about how Christ ascended on high and how His resurrection assures us that we can all be saved. The tomb is empty, and Christ is alive, and now the price for our sins is paid. The lyrics of this song provide a message of hope to all believers as it speaks of Christ's sacrifice and His victory over death, which provides assurance that we too can overcome.
