Mexican chef
Nouveau America
Bachata in the back

Brown walks your baby
Brown walks your dog
Brown raised America in place of it′s mom

Brown cleans your house
Brown takes the trash
Brown even wipes your granddaddy's ass

Brown sews the buttons back on your shirt
Brown picks the fruits
Brown planted in the dirt

Brown drives your bus
Brown drives your taxi
Brown brings your lunch on a bike when you′re relaxing

I want it, want it all now
I want it all now
We build the ghettos and we tear them down

Brown lays bricks
Brown builds your wall
Brown tears them down and builds them again
Brown breaks his back
Brown takes the flack
Brown gets cut 'cause his papers are whack

Brown sits down
Brown does frown
Brown's up in a hospital gown

Brown has not
Brown gets shot
Brown got what he deserved ′cause he fought

I want it, want it all now
I want it all now
We sail the boat that′s gonna take you to town
We build the ghettos and we tear them down

French bistro

It's a party across America, Bachata in the back

I want it, want it all now
Want it all now
I want it, want it all now
Want it all now

We′re the ones that make sure
The tree falls down
When the tree falls down
It don't make a sound

Overall Meaning

The song "Mexican Chef" by Xenia Rubinos is a social commentary on the plight of immigrant workers in America. The lyrics connect the different ethnic backgrounds of the chefs in different restaurants and cuisines, highlighting the contribution of immigrants to the American economy. However, despite making America what it is today, the workers are mistreated and exploited, as indicated in the line "Brown breaks his back, Brown takes the flack, Brown gets cut cause his papers are whack." The song reflects on the struggle that immigrant workers undergo in their quest for a better life but still remain marginalized, unpaid, and unappreciated while being forced to do menial jobs in America.

The imagery in the song is very strong and thought-provoking. The lyrics "Brown walks your baby, Brown walks your dog, Brown cleans your house, Brown takes the trash" captures the daily lives of undocumented immigrant workers, who are forced to do low-wage jobs to make ends meet. Rubinos portrays the struggle, the plight, the pain, and the resilience of such workers, who are the backbone of the American industry.

The use of "toma chocolate/paga lo que debes" is quadruply brilliant. In that it was sung by Nat King Cole, an adoption of latino culture in America before the last generation; in that it means whatever luxury you enjoy will be paid for, matching the song's narrative. And that it comes as an outro suggests that what has been taken has yet to be paid for.
