The original members of Y&T were Dave Meniketti (lead vocals and lead guitar), Leonard Haze (drums), Phil Kennemore (bass), and Joey Alves (rhythm guitar). Haze was replaced by Jimmy DeGrasso in 1986. Alves was replaced by Stef Burns in 1989. The band officially disbanded in 1991, although they continued to perform sporadically. They officially reunited in 2001 with a lineup of Meniketti, Kennemore, and Burns alongside Leonard Haze. Burns eventually went on to join the pop rock outfit Huey Lewis & The News and was replaced by John Nymann. Nymann was an old friend of the band who had sung backup for the group before. In 2006, Haze was asked to step down, and he was replaced by Mike Vanderhule.
The band's signature hits include "Summertime Girls", a Van Halen like piece of cheeky arena rock that reached #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985, and ""Mean Streak." That latter track hiked up to #25 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart due to its aggressive, heavy style. Y&T's 1984 album, 'In Rock We Trust', has been their highest selling release, reaching #46 on the Billboard Album Charts and selling over 450,000 copies; the spirited album came very close to Gold status.

Lucy
Y&T Lyrics

The hot little tramp with the suede blue eyes
One false move, get the bad reputation
Now the talk is cheap and the rumours fly
She's got the fellas singin' - whoa
She's got the girls a screamin'
Now, everybody's talkin' 'bout Lucy
Everybody's talking 'bout
Everybody's talking 'bout
Everybody's talkin' 'bout Lucy
Everybody's talking 'bout
She ain't got no other guy
Ooh now baby gonna be all mine
So tell me baby, who you gonna run to
Shotgun turn and run, makin' you cry
When everybody says that you're going down
The world is out but I know it's a lie
Stole my heart, now what's the ransom
What's it gonna take to make you mine, all mine
I'll be the one to get you through the night
I'll be your lover, be your alibi
She's got the fellas singin' - whoa
She's got the girls a screamin'
Now everybody's talkin'
But I'm the only one who knows
Now, everybody's talkin' 'bout Lucy
Everybody's talking 'bout
Everybody's sayin' they know
Everybody's talking 'bout
Everybody's talkin' 'bout Lucy
Everybody's talking 'bout
She ain't got no other guy
Ooh now baby gonna be all mine
The song "Lucy" by Y&T is a narrative about a woman named Lucy who is the talk of the town due to her stunning features, but also her reputation for being a promiscuous woman. The song is narrated from the perspective of a man who is head over heels for Lucy despite the rumors and criticism about her. The lyrics are filled with references to Lucy's irresistible charm and how it drives men crazy, making girls jealous. The singer of the song claims that he is the only one who understands Lucy, and that he is going to be with her, nobody else.
The lyrics are heavily objectifying towards Lucy, reducing her to a mere object of desire without any regard for her personal choices or feelings. The lyrics suggest that Lucy is a woman to be won over like a prize, and that the singer is determined to be the one to claim his prize. However, the song is ultimately a catchy, upbeat rock tune that glorifies the idea of chasing desires without any hindrances.
Overall, "Lucy" is a prime example of the lyrical themes of 80s rock and roll, focusing on the male gaze and the perception of women as objects of desire.
