In this state of mind, he started to write the material for his first solo album, Western Romance. After his return, Perreau began a one-year program at the acting DOJO under the wing of Pol Pelletier, renowned lady of the theater. This union would be crucial for the singer. In November of 2002, the release of Western Romance, co-produced by Gilles Brisebois, would earn Yann Perreau many awards such as the Belgium-Quebec Rapsat-Lelièvre Award, the Miroir Prize at the Festival d’été de Québec and the Félix-Leclerc Prize at the Francofolies de Montréal. The Western Romance show was presented all over the province of Quebec, Belgium, France, Canada and Mexico.
In 2005, Yann Perreau delivered his second album, Nucléaire, produced this time by Éric Goulet. After finalizing a whole new musical atmosphere, the singer presented a brand new show called "Perreau et la Lune", a luminous mix of both his albums that resulted in the singer touring constantly during the year it was released. In the fall of 2007, Perreau won the Félix Award for Director of the Year for the show. 2008 saw the release of the CD\DVD "Perreau et la lune, live au Quat'Sous".
In 2009, Yann Perreau returned with his new album "Un Serpent Sous les Fleurs", released on March 24th with Bonsound Records.

Le champs de bataille fume
Le son des clairons pleure
La lune cachée
L'amour se meurt
C'est la fin de l'amour
Crucifié de beautés perdues
Les vapeurs de passé flottent
Envahissant le peu qui reste
du monde vivant
De l'impassible monde vivant
l'amour se meurt
C'est la fin de l'amour
Crucifié de beautées perdues
Le son des clairons pleure
L'amour se meurt
J'entend ler échos au salon
Le Champs de bataille pleure
La lune cachée
C'est la fin de l'amour
Crucifié de beautés perdues
c'est la fin de l'amour
Souillé de caresses éteintes
c'est la mort de l'amour
Le son des clairons pleure
La lune cachée
L'amour ce meurt
Trop écorché
The song L'Amour se meurt (Love is dying) by Yann Perreau is a melancholic and somber tune that speaks of the end of love. The lyrics describe a battlefield where love is crucified, and the sound of trumpets cries out while the moon hides, adding to the overall theme of gloominess. The echoes heard in the room indicate memories of the past, with the fumes of battle enveloping and invading the remaining world. Love dies in this stark and unemotional world, devoid of any passion or feeling. The repetition of "c'est la fin de l'amour" (this is the end of love) emphasizes the finality and hopelessness of the situation.
The song seems to suggest that love has died due to the harsh realities and conflicts of the world, and its memory only remains in the past. It speaks to a deep sense of longing for something that has been lost, and the pain of acceptance that it can never be regained. The line "souillé de caresses éteintes" (soiled by extinguished caresses) adds to the suddenness and finality of the loss, making it seem as if love has been snuffed out like a fire.
In summary, the song L'Amour se meurt by Yann Perreau is a poignant reflection on the death of love, evoking images of battlefields, echoing memories, and unfeeling worlds. It speaks to a deep sense of nostalgia, longing, and loss that many can relate to.
