In this state of mind, he started to write the material for his first solo album, Western Romance. After his return, Perreau began a one-year program at the acting DOJO under the wing of Pol Pelletier, renowned lady of the theater. This union would be crucial for the singer. In November of 2002, the release of Western Romance, co-produced by Gilles Brisebois, would earn Yann Perreau many awards such as the Belgium-Quebec Rapsat-Lelièvre Award, the Miroir Prize at the Festival d’été de Québec and the Félix-Leclerc Prize at the Francofolies de Montréal. The Western Romance show was presented all over the province of Quebec, Belgium, France, Canada and Mexico.
In 2005, Yann Perreau delivered his second album, Nucléaire, produced this time by Éric Goulet. After finalizing a whole new musical atmosphere, the singer presented a brand new show called "Perreau et la Lune", a luminous mix of both his albums that resulted in the singer touring constantly during the year it was released. In the fall of 2007, Perreau won the Félix Award for Director of the Year for the show. 2008 saw the release of the CD\DVD "Perreau et la lune, live au Quat'Sous".
In 2009, Yann Perreau returned with his new album "Un Serpent Sous les Fleurs", released on March 24th with Bonsound Records.

In Yann Perreau's song "Le président danse autrement," the lyrics talk about the impact of music on everyday life and how it can be both troubling and transformative. The opening verse discusses how even mundane places like elevators, grocery stores, and clinics can be unsettling because of the music playing inside. However, the chorus introduces the idea that the president dances to a different rhythm – he moves in an abstract and metaphorical way, leaving behind the transparent and predictable politics of the past. The president weaves a subtle web that's hard to understand, but it's also transformative and exciting.
The song can be interpreted as a commentary on the power of art and culture to challenge our assumptions and transform our perspective. By dancing to a different rhythm, the president in the song represents a countercultural force that can act as a catalyst for change. The lyrics suggest that the status quo is troubling and ordinary, and that we need something new, something that can inspire and invigorate us.
Overall, the song is both a celebration of music's ability to transform the everyday and a call to action to embrace the power of art to create something new and exciting in the world.
