I am in a state of exhaustion and lethargy that leaves me without any motivation to leave my bed. However, when I do manage to lay down and try to sleep, I find it impossible to do so.

My depression is making it hard for me to do basic things that most people take for granted, such as doing laundry and eating food. These simple tasks have become insurmountable obstacles.

I have turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as smoking in an attempt to deal with my negative emotions. However, this behavior only serves to make me feel worse.

I'm emotional, I'll always be
I am a highly sensitive person and my emotions tend to overwhelm me. This is simply part of who I am and I can't change it.

And I hate myself but that's alright
I struggle with self-loathing and negative self-talk, but I am trying to accept that this is a normal part of the human experience. It's okay to feel this way.

And I love myself but that's alright
On the other hand, I am also trying to cultivate self-love and self-compassion. Despite feeling a lot of negativity towards myself, I recognize that there are aspects of myself that I appreciate and value.

And I tell myself that it's alright
I try to acknowledge that my struggles are valid and that it's okay to struggle. I don't need to have everything figured out all the time.

That I dream about the day I die
Sometimes, when things get really tough, the idea of something ending can seem like a relief. While I don't necessarily want to die, I do sometimes fantasize about a world in which things are over and I don't have to keep fighting.

To my surprise, there's no one to blame
When I'm struggling, it can be tempting to try and find someone or something to blame. However, I'm starting to recognize that sometimes there simply isn't anyone or anything to blame–things just are the way that they are.

Nobody came, what a shame, shame, shame
Despite my hopes, no one has come to support me in my struggles. This is disappointing and shameful in some sense, but I'm trying not to beat myself up about it.

I've been dancing at my funeral
Metaphorically speaking, I feel as though I am already dead. I'm just going through the motions and waiting for things to end.

I'm hoping that someone–anyone–will show up and rescue me from my state of misery and depression.

I was hoping you'd look beautiful
In my fantasy, the person who comes to rescue me is not only able to help me overcome my struggles, but also looks beautiful and perfect while doing so. It's an idealized version of what I want to happen.

Dancing with tears in your eyes
The person who comes to rescue me is not simply stoic and emotionless. They are moved to tears by what they see and that only makes them more beautiful in my eyes.

My hair fell out 'cause I dyed it cheap
I've engaged in impulsive and unhealthy behaviors, such as using cheap hair dye which has caused my hair to fall out. I'm not taking care of myself in the way that I should be.

I want a real fake smile but I hate my teeth
I'm struggling to put on a brave face and pretend that things are okay, but I also dislike something fundamental about myself (in this case, my teeth).

I want to tell you that I love you but I just can't speak
I have deeply held feelings for someone, but I am struggling to find the words to express those feelings. My depression and anxiety are getting in the way.

I've got a fucked up soul and an STD
My emotional struggles are compounded by a physical one. I am dealing with an infection or disease that is making me feel even worse about myself.

Do you hate yourself? Well that's alright
I'm not the only one who struggles with self-loathing. It's a common human experience and it's okay to feel that way sometimes.

At the same time, it's also important to cultivate self-love and self-compassion. This is something that we all deserve, regardless of our struggles.

Recognizing the legitimacy of our struggles and feelings is an important part of the healing process. It's okay to tell ourselves that things are alright, even when they're not great.

That you dream about the day you die?
Sometimes, when things get really difficult, it's hard not to fantasize about a world in which we no longer have to struggle. However, it's important to remember that we only get one shot at life and we should try to make the most of it.

I wanna prove my love before I leave
In part, my struggles with depression have to do with a fear that I won't have a chance to demonstrate my love for the people around me. I want to make sure that they know how I feel before it's too late.

I wanna make you come and scrape my knees
I want to be vulnerable with the people I care about and show them the parts of myself that are hurting. I want them to be there for me and support me through the difficult times.

Want you to bite my tongue until I bleed
In a twisted way, I want someone to hurt me physically as a way of expressing their love and support. It's a cry for help and a way of saying that I need someone to care for me.

And you can put these fucking words in my obituary
In some sense, this song is like a message to the people in my life. I want them to know how I'm feeling and what I'm struggling with. I want them to remember me and remember how I fought to overcome my demons.
