Follow the Ocean

Walking along these roads we thought we might have known
Holding onto things from which we thought we've grown
Holding onto things from which we knew but now we were lost
So when you walk your demons tonight
Let's hold their paws and we'll keep them warm and we'll keep them warm
Follow the ocean back to your heart, follow your fears back to where we learned
And where we were taught
To fear this falling, falling
This falling for you
Hm and I'm not
'Cause I'm not sure now when I'm coming home
I've come to love this time alone
And I'm not sure now
'Cause I'm not sure now when I'm coming home, 'cause this road we lost dear, we lost here
So when you walk your demons tonight
Let's hold their paws and we'll keep them warm and we'll keep them warm now
So when you walk your demons tonight dear
Let's hold their paws and we'll keep them warm and we'll keep them warm, ay
So follow the ocean back to your heart
Follow your fears back to the start
So follow the ocean back to your heart
Follow your fears back to where we learned, and where we were taught
To fear this falling, falling
'Cause I'm not sure when I'm coming home girl
Coming home
'Cause I'm not sure when I'm coming home love
Coming home
Coming home
'Cause I'm not sure when I'm coming home
Coming home
Coming home
Because I'm not sure, when I'm coming home
Coming home here
So follow the ocean back to your heart
Follow your fears back to the start
So follow the ocean back to your heart
Follow your fears back to where we learned
And where we were taught
Where we were taught to fear this
Falling for love
This falling for love
This falling for love
This falling for love
This falling, falling
This falling for you
Should I wrap this up? I think they're kind of cool
In "Follow the Ocean," Ziggy Alberts explores the journey of self-discovery and freedom through the metaphor of the ocean. He talks about walking along paths that may be familiar but have lost their meaning, holding onto things that weigh us down, and being lost in the process. The repetition of the lines, "follow the ocean back to your heart," and "follow your fears back to the start" underscores the importance of going back to our core selves, where we can confront and overcome our fears, and find a renewed sense of purpose and direction.
The lyrics also emphasize the power of acknowledging our demons and holding onto them despite their darkness. By accepting and nurturing them, we can keep them warm and learn to coexist with them. The song is a reminder to embrace uncertainty and not let our fears hold us back from experiencing the beauty and freedom of life.
