Bababa Ba?
dasu Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sabado na maglaro tayo
Isa ka sa anghel na biglang naglaho
Sumabay ka rin sa pagsipol ko
Awawa

Minsang malumbay ang munting tahanan
Paumanhin man kung ika'y nasaktan
Susubaybayan ang iyong kalungkutan
Tulad ng aking kamatayan

Naglalaro lang tayo
Nandito nandito
Nandito lang naman ako
Pikit-mata at ayaw kang makita

Takbo ng oras ko ay paurong
'Di ba't nakakatindig balahibo
Inuugoy ng makasalanang anino
Naghihintay pa rin ako sayo

Kailan ka mumulat sa 'king panaginip
Lalo lang akong naiinip
Susubaybayan ang iyong kalungkutan
Tulad ng aking kamatayan

Naglalaro lang tayo
Nandito nandito
Nandito lang naman ako
Pikit-mata at ayaw kang makita

Inuugoy ng makasalanang anino
Naghihintay pa rin ako sayo

Sabado na maglaro tayo
Isa ka sa anghel na biglang naglaho

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to dasu's song "BABABA BA?" convey emotions of heartbreak, longing, and waiting. The first stanza paints a picture of two people playing together on a Saturday. One partner suddenly disappears, leaving the other singing about their vanished angel. The second stanza describes a sad home and the singer's promise to follow the heartache of their beloved. The chorus repeats the phrase "Naglalaro lang tayo, Nandito nandito, Nandito lang naman ako" which means "We're just playing, I'm here, I'm just here" and describes a situation where two people are physically present but emotionally distant. The lyrics further suggest that the singer is waiting for their partner to return and that they will keep waiting like they are waiting for death.

The lyrics make use of several literary devices to convey the singer's feelings. The repeated use of "susubaybayan ang iyong kalungkutan" (I'll be keeping track of your sadness) is an example of parallelism used to emphasize the singer's commitment. The use of the word "anino" (shadow) in the lines "Inuugoy ng makasalanang anino, Naghihintay pa rin ako sa'yo" (I'm still waiting for you, hounded by sinful shadows) creates a metaphorical image of darkness looming over and haunting the singer.

You can theorize about the ongoing novel/songs, send in your fanarts & stuff!: discord.gg/7yaXWVeZXC
Cohen is one of the few Helices who liked playing with human vessels before he inhabits them, wanting to 'play' with them 'during Saturdays', or luring them to push them off the top of a high structure. He blames humans for making him suffer the consequences of their inability to come forward and voluntary owning up to their mortal debts. He admits that he too, has his own weaknesses, yet he can only blame himself. He then reminisces all his human errs as he watches his preys bleed out of existence and then take their over their bodies as his own. Seeing them dying on the ground only reminds him of himself and how he could've wished he did something, but the past only remains in the past. In the upcoming novel chapter, he decided to run away from the responsibility of 'mortality' by being turned into a doll, which was now carried by Cihy as nothing other than a mere burden, from the previous song 'DIVINE'.
