La Mel i el Rusc
ferran palau Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Beneiràs la mel que surti d'aquest rusc,
recolliràs els fruits d'haver sigut tan just... enguany.
Malairàs l'espai que hi ha entre tu i la mel,
quan el desert que tens a la mirada és pla. fa mal.
Doncs res, que te'l faràs, te'l trobaràs... no em fagis cas.
Tu jugues aquell joc d'aquí no passa res,

Overall Meaning

In Ferran Palau's song La Mel i el Rusc, the lyrics speak of a sense of longing or desire for something, symbolized by honey and fruits, that one can only attain through being just. The first stanza speaks of being able to bless or enjoy the honey that comes out of a nest or hive, as a result of being just or righteous. In the second stanza, Palau speaks of the pain that one can feel when longing for something that seems so close yet so far, such as the space between oneself and the honey or the ice. Despite this pain, the song seems to have an underlying message that encourages one to do what one needs to do to attain the honey or the fruit, even if it may seem difficult or impossible.

As the song progresses, Palau speaks of a person who may be struggling internally despite showing no outward signs. This individual may be playing a game of pretending that everything is okay, but deep down they may be hurting. The final choruses remind the listener that despite the difficulties, they will find that thing they seek, even if it seems impossible. The repetition of "no em fagis cas" ("don't listen to me") may be interpreted as a way of telling oneself to push through and not give up, despite any doubts or uncertainties.

Overall, the lyrics of La Mel i el Rusc seem to encourage perseverance in the face of adversity, and suggest that the reward for being just or righteous will be sweet in the end.
