lake that day
And I was thinking about
the things I left behind
Tough subjects left untouched
I was walking down a lifeless
concrete street
And I was wondering
I could have reached
How far I could have reached
Then I almost understood
When we were kids
Nothing was left behind the wall
When we were kids
Stars were always shining bright
We're still around the corner
We're on the edge of nowhere
We're aiming to uncover
all the stars
I was joking around
with a friend of mine
And I was hoping that
A day like this would never end
A day like this would never end
That was only about a week or
two ago
Now I am wondering
How much closer we could be
How close we could have been
When we were kids
Nothing was left behind the wall
When we were kids
Stars were always shining bright
We're still around the corner
We're on the edge of nowhere
We're aiming to uncover
all the stars
Night time is so quiet
And it washes away my fear yeah
It won't come crashing down
on my head
My life is not pathetic
But there are things I can't
let go of
And they won't stop hurting
Holding me back
When we were kids
Nothing was left behind the wall
When we were kids
Stars were always shining bright
We're still around the corner
We're on the edge of nowhere
We're aiming to uncover
all the stars
We're still around the corner
We're on the edge of nowhere
We're aiming to uncover
all the stars
The HIATUS's song "Silver Birch" is a reflection on the past, present, and future. The lyrics describe the singer's walk around a nearby lake, where he thinks about the things he has left behind and wonders how much closer he could have been with his friend. He reflects on his childhood, where everything seemed possible and there were no barriers to achieving his dreams. The metaphor of "stars shining bright" represents the hope and optimism that comes with childhood, which gets lost as one grows up and faces the challenges of life.
The second verse talks about the singer joking around with a friend, hoping that the day would never end. This shows a desire to hold on to the happy moments in life and not let them slip away. The chorus repeats the idea that they are still around the corner, on the edge of nowhere, and aiming to uncover all the stars. The repeated use of this phrase shows a determination to keep moving forward and not give up on their dreams.
Overall, "Silver Birch" is a poignant reminder to hold on to hope and optimism in the face of adversity. Despite the challenges of life, it is important to remember the possibilities of childhood and keep moving forward towards our dreams.
