So He Begins to Lie
Bloc Party Lyrics

The camera’s watching
He takes a breath
Even though that they know
That he knows
That they’re on to him
He don’t break a sweat, no

It grows and grows and grows
Inside of him
There’s nothing there
All along he knows
Those mirrors started to lie to him
His reflection faded

The crowd are waiting
He takes the stage
Cross his heart, hand on heart, open heart
That he’s gone legit
He was never there, no

Oh, it grows and grows and grows
Inside of him
There’s nothing there
All along he knows
Those mirrors started to lie to him
His reflection faded

As easy as closing his eyes
So he begins to lie

The camera’s watching
The camera’s watching him lie

Kele hits certain notes that make me feel a deep longing for another time. It makes me sad, but also happy that their music exists and I can be taken there at any point in my life.

As is the case with most Bloc Party songs, if you walk down a busy street with your headphones and SCREAM this song, people will either think you're insane, or will stop and shake your hand/give you a hug

God Bless Bloc Party

"OHHHHHHHHH! IT GROWS AND GROWS AND GROWS INSIDE OF HIM"

The Grizzlies

What a great way to open an album!

truuuupR

a return to form for the band imo. Silent alarm came out of nowhere back in 2005 and 8 years on they haven't been able to get anywhere near the quality they made on that album. This is certainly the strongest record they've made since silent alarm - I do wonder if they'll ever top that album in the years they have left..... Perhaps the pressure of them to create something even greater than silent alarm from the critics has driven their music to a different place compared to the unknown freedom of when they made silent alarm. Just my opinion though :D

Paul Thomas

@truuuupR "Silent Alarm came out of nowhere"? Hardly. They'd been being hyped up for eighteen months before that album was released.

not you

Silent Alarm was great and all, but A Weekend in the City is their best in my opinion.

HeirLethal

since 4 came out. I would say this album is the best since silent alarm, almost as good to.

Felix Maynard

Really loved their new drummer tbh, they were so good at latitude

This is how you start an album; boy's been doing it!
