In the Spring of 2006, Café del Mar by La Caina - Vue Mer - the debut album of French artists La Caina - was released. It received excellent reviews worldwide and soon became a favorite among the top albums in the Café del Mar series.
Autumn 2007 saw the release of the group's highly-anticipated second album, Head In The Clouds which contains 13 tracks - 10 sung and three instrumental.
This project took over a year of work in Ibiza, where Jean Pierre Plisson had begun setting up a new studio, and in Studio OXO in France.
The three instrumental pieces were crafted in Ibiza, as was the composition of some of the songs. In contrast, the 10 songs were entirely produced in France as they needed the participation of other musicians.
The first of Jean Pierre's collaborators was his daughter Maxime Plisson, a singer well-known in French jazz circles. (Among the venues in which she has performed is the famous Parisian cabaret, Moulin Rouge). Maxime did all the vocal arrangements; wrote the lyrics in French, English, and Spanish; and was also the project's artistic advisor.
Also participating in this album were Nicolas Scheid (sax, flute, and bass clarinet), with whom Jean Pierre had previously collaborated, and newcomer Antoine Hervier (keyboards). Both Scheid and Hervier are accomplished jazz musicians who are well-known in France.
