I Ain't the One
Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyrics

Now I'll tell you plainly, baby, what a plan to do
Say, I may be crazy, woman, but I ain't no fool
Your daddy's rich, mama, you're overdue
I ain't the one, baby, been messin' with you
Got bells in your mind, lady, and it's easy to see
I think it's time for me to move along, I do believe

Or are you tryin' to put a hook on me? Oh no

Now you're talkin' jive, woman, when you say to me
That your daddy's gonna take us in, baby, take care of me
You know and I know, woman, I ain't the one
I never hurt you, sweetheart, I never pulled my gun
Got bells in your mind, mama, and it's easy to see
I think it's time for me to move along, I do believe

Time for me to put my boots out in the streets missy
Are you ready?
Walk on!

Alright little missy, let me tell you a thing or two

Now you're talkin' jive, woman, when you say to me
That your daddy's gonna take us in, baby, take care of me
When you know and I know, woman, I ain't the one
I never hurt you, sweetheart, said, I never pulled my gun
Got bells in your mind, mama, and it's easy to see
I think it's time for me to move along, I do believe

Oh, I must be in the middle of some kinda conspiracy

Technically, while it is a Skynyrd original, it isn't their original.

The original has no piano, and some words are different. Especially verse 2. Also in the original he says are you ready boots, well then get going, vs are ready boots, walk on.

I do believe the original is from Muscle Shores. It sounds like Ronnie almost has some reverb on his mic.

The second version, this one, is more refined.

Either way I like the drums in the very beginning. The bass is great, as of course is the "3 guitar army".

When you hear a true original, whether it's the Beatles, the Stones, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Tom Petty or Lynyrd Skynyrd, you recognize it.

Pantera as well

@Josh Floyd you can credit Sabbath for metal

Josh Floyd

@TheGapfather you really can credit zeppelin for METAL.
Skynard changed everyone though, Because Ronnie ment to blow everyone else off the stage. The man worked that band harder than James Brown

That is one of the most bad-ass opening riffs there ever was, but it never got the recognition it deserved(s). Only amongst true Skynyrd fans.

"Gimme Back My Bullets" is pretty ripping as well.

Dude what? By 1973, the ABB had already peaked once AND lost their two most talented musicians (Duane Allman & Berry Oakley)...and had put out at least five albums.....

@Chip Hewett you wont find another Allen Collins like you won't find another Neil Armstrong. I know its vastly different but both were pioneers in their own right and established something so big that nobody can redo it because they were one of the first. Skynyrd in my opinion is the 2nd greatest rock band behind the Beatles and I'm not even a Beatles fan but once again they were one of the first so you have to give respect where respect is due.
