I feel like the problem with the guitar solo was how it was placed in the arrangement, it was right after a shout section and at the beginning of the solo section and came out with a very dissonant substitution that held out for an entire phrase, which sort of ruined the hype from the band section before it.

Maybe if it was placed later in the solo section, the dissonance would have been more tasteful, and the substitutions are still cool af, but the rapid tonal transitions created an unsteady flow

Maynard and Louis are two totally different trumpet players from two totally different times. They are both amazing and better than everyone else. Maynard did most of his playing for show (hence holding high notes longer, shaking all of them, physically exploding while playing them and throwing his arms out after he kisses them off). Louis is more of a trained, technical player who looks like he's playing pedal tones when he's playing 2+ octaves above the staff. Similar styles, different players.

Psychedelic Trumpet There were a couple of nice parts in there, but in my personal opinion it felt like he wasnt really going anywhere with it, more like he was just walking around the fretboard aimlessly. And yeah, you’re definetely not the only one here who studies music, as this arrangement is mostly something other musicians will appreciate.
