Recorded at home with no real intention to be listened to, the album featured minimalist songs and short piano pieces. Encouraged by some friends, he played his first gigs during the following year as part of a university festival in Angers, Western France, and then recorded a real first album « Le Jeu des Balcons Mal Fermés » (« The Game of Badly Closed Balconies ») in 2005.
Even before ending the recording, Aurélien Merle started composing melodies from Irish WB Yeats’s poetry as a recreation. One year later « For Words, Perhaps » is released, an acoustic album all in English with guitar, piano, double-bass and cello. After being praised in many reviews, Aurélien Merle left Angers and settled in Paris where he keeps on playing his French repertoire.
