See a Little Light
Bob Mould Lyrics

Listen, there's music in the air
I heard your voice, coming from somewhere
But look how much we've grown
I guess I should have known

As the years go by, they take their toll on you
Think of all the things we wanted to do
And all the words we said yesterday
That's a long time ago
You didn't think I'd really go, now
Are you waiting? (I know why)
You're already saying goodbye
Are you ready? (I know why)

I see a little light, I know you will
I can see it in your eyes, I know you still care
But if you want me to go
You should just say so

I see a little light
I know you will
I can see it in your eyes
Ah, ah, ah, ooh

(Chorus x3

Listen to Husker Du; this guy's original band. I'd start with Candy Apple Grey since it's probably their most accessible or the song "Don't Want to Know if You Are Lonely". The band was a huge influence on Green Day. They did the punk rock rock opera before American Idiot with Zen Arcade. Green Day covered the song I mentioned above too. Them, Pixies, The Replacements, and Dinosaur Jr. laid the groundwork for 90's alternative and beyond.

@Tom Przybylinski, I totally agree--Husker Du is one band that practically defined 80s music for me...
