1) Argentinian experimental indie pop band Suárez started making waves in the Buenos Aires independent music scene in the early '90s, making their recording debut on the 92/93's 'Ruido' compilations among other young independent groups like Resonantes and Los Brujos. Giving their unconventional approach towards composition and sonic experimentation their full-lenght debut, Hora de no ver (1994), was released on their own label 'Feliz año nuevo'; a self-managed platform which would look over the release of their whole catalog. Along with the record, the DIY music video for the track "Morirían" managed to gain rotation on MTV Latino and Much Music.
After issuing 1995's Horrible, the band went on tour for the first time across Argentina and Chile. In 1996, filmmakers Bill Nieto and Miguel Mitlaj produced a short movie called 'Cenando con Suárez', which was based on the recording sessions for their third album Galope. The promotional tour for Galope would take them to Spain, performing on several locations and re-editing their records for the local market. In 1999, the group released what would be their final record, Excursiones, with the song "Rio Paraná" as the lead single along its promo video clip. Suárez abruptly broke up in 2001 as they were beginning to gain traction in the broader Argentine music scene.
The production of the documentary "Entre dos luces. Suárez. Primera parte" pieced together from footage from the early years of the group by director Fernando M. Blanco saw the sudden return of Suárez, who performed live on the premiere of the film during the Mar del Plata International Film Festival on November 1st, 2015. Since then the group has performed sporadically and have hinted on the release of new material.
2) Belgian acoustic/pop band Suarez is a four-piece act composed of three folk musicians from Madagascar – brothers Max and Pata Randriamanjava, and their cousin Dada Ravalison, who play lead guitar, bass, and drums – along with lead singer and rhythm guitarist Marc Pinilla (a Belgian from a Spanish family). They all met after the trio from Madagascar came to Mons, France for a world music contecst, whch their band at the time N'java won. The songs on their 2010 debut album, "On attend" features well crafted melodies and catchy hooks. Their are signed with France on Remark/Univeal records and their website is www.suarezlegroupe.be.
