I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire
The Ink Spots Lyrics

I don't want to set the world on fire
I just want to start a flame in your heart

In my heart I have but one desire
And that one is you, no other will do

I've lost all ambition for worldly acclaim
I just want to be the one you love
And with your admission that you'd feel the same
I'll have reached the goal I'm dreaming of, believe me

I don't want to set the world on fire
I just want to start a flame in your heart

I don't want to set the world on fire, honey
I love you too much
I just want to start a great big flame down in your heart
You see, way down deep inside of me, darling
I have only one desire
And that one desire is you
And I know, baby, ain't nobody else gonna do

I've lost all ambition for worldly acclaim
I just want to be the one you love
And with your admission that you'd feel the same
I'll have reached the goal I'm dreaming of, believe me

I don't want to set the world on fire
I just want to start a flame in your heart

I was in my room, playing this song when my grandfather was still alive, he was 80 years old and he passed away in 2019, he was Around during World War 2 and he came in and he was so shocked to find me listening to this, I'll never forget how he looked at me when I played it. He started to cry and told me about this song playing in a Dinner, he met my grandmother years later after the war in 1952, this song was still extremely popular, then. She passed away in 1994 and he's been by himself since. He was such a joyful man, served in Vietnam and was rewarded a purple heart💜, I'll never forget

@420 reactions he didn’t say his grandfather was drafted. He served. Big difference between drafted and serving the military
