Sunday With A Flu
Yodelice Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning | Line by Line Meaning

Closed my door, forgot my key
Missed my bus in the pouring rain
It's been the usual Sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

Burnt my toast and lost your number
Cut my finger, spilled my beer
It's been the usual Sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?

Had a chat and left my hat
Ate my dog and walked my cat
It's been the usual Sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?

Called a cabbage threw the garbage
Asked for help and got some kelp
It's been the usual Sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Sunday With A Flu" by Yodelice depict a day in the life of someone who is nursing a cold or flu and is unable to move on from a person they have been pining over. Despite the mundane nature of the day, their mind is constantly drifting towards thoughts of the person who they just can't get over.

The song starts with the protagonist closing their door, only to realise they have forgotten their key, setting the tone for a day full of mishaps. They miss their bus in the pouring rain and burn their toast while trying to make breakfast. The chorus repeats the phrase "It's been the usual Sunday with a flu, and I just can't get over you", emphasising the protagonist's inability to move on from their past relationship.

The second verse shows the protagonist losing the person's number, cutting their finger while attempting to make lunch, and even mixing up their pets. The line "I put your stockings in my purple boots" serves as a haunting reminder of the person they can't get over, and the repetition of the line "What if I don't get over you?" highlights the desperation they feel.

Overall, the lyrics of "Sunday With A Flu" portray the monotony of a sick day paired with the overwhelming emotions of heartbreak, creating a relatable and poignant depiction of the human experience.
