9E is the brainchild of Nicholas Whitfield.. Writer, producer and performer on all the records.
Live 9E is Nicholas Whitfield vocals/keys/guitars,Shaun Bailey guitars/synths,Jennifer Whitfield synths,
Benjahmin Hamblin guitars/bass,David Zawacki drums.
Dark, aggressive and melodic in nature.. 9E style is a mix of old school industrial [NIN,Skinny Puppy,Revolting Cocks,Ministry,KMFDM]
w/ audible influences from [Nirvana,Marilyn Manson,Filter,Garbage,Deftones,The Cure]
On top of that is then the complex patterns and melodies of score/symphonic compositions,
that stem from Nicholas Whitfield's classical based background in piano and orchestral writing .
Formed in 2005 and playing live since 2006,9E has released 5 full length studio albums.
Most recently The Life Atomic 2009 was released Dec of 2009..
9E has themed albums and their live stage show always reflects upon that.
The Life Atomic is a revisionist,"What could have been" version of the 1940's..
The fear of the bomb dropping and what happened after they did.
Currently and on going themes, military dominance, political struggles,
over throwing corrupt government, lost loves or having someone taken away,
revenge, disbelief and an over whelming struggle w/ hopelessness and despair.
Music themes often include , classical style piano and strings.
Piano setting the tone of whether something is safe or not.
Slightly off tune and dissonant chords on non distorted guitars represent
something being odd or ominous.. Often one melody will be indicating that
all is clear , while another will be haunted and dark and in complete contrast.
Everything has a meaning and is part of a textured story..
9E definitely is a thematic band and is the music equivalent to a David Lynch film.
