I met a lovely Norwegian girl in Aachen Germany in the early 70’s and she introduced me to this album which I play continuously to bring back fond memories. Best wishes from Brisbane Australia

This album has sold over 400 000 copies, more than any other jazz record in Sweden as far as I know. People are deeply touched by this beautiful masterpiece.

Tänka sig, att bedöma ngt bra med stålar. Då Kafkas verk måste vara skit!

My eye opening to my native music, started to listen to Jan Johansson when I was seven in 1967. I played it and I still love to listen to polska från Medelpad
@MarkErickson-Painter
Love Jan Johansson's interpretation of this tune. A tune one can listen over and over and it sounds so tranquil and feels like Nature. Polska från Medelpad was written by my Great Uncle Anders Petter 'Ante Sundin' Andersson when he was 22 years old in the late 1800s. He was a well known fiddle player in the later 180ss through till his passing in the late 1940s. Medelpad or in English, 'Middle Land' is a beautiful area of Sweden off the Gulf of Bothnia. Not far from Sundsvall where a lot of my family live now and my Grandfather was born. He emigrated from Sweden to the States when he was an early teenager in the 1900s. Never have been fortunate to hear any original versions played by Ante Sundin.
@ColtraneTaylor
Blimey. Maybe the one I like most on this album. Reminds me of Pentangle too.
@MarkErickson-Painter
@ColtraneTaylor There you go, have not thought of Pentangle in years and listening now. Nice!! Thanks for the reminder and do agree. Forgot how funky Pentangle was, classical, so St John's Wood.....English!!...beat, 13th Century rock and folky and beyond. Yes...John Renbourn & Bert Jansch. Jeez it has been yearssss. Again thanks. And now checking they are still around playing. Seems Jacqui McShee holding the fort from the old guard.

Ich habe Jazz pa svenska vom ersten Moment geliebt als ich es gehört habe es ist lätt und lagum
@yasminhomayoun7888
Is this the father of Jens ?
@Freawulf
Yup he was... U might want to check some videos I shot last year in Stockholm at a gig Jens and Anders played in tribute to their father's work: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSwVFP68snY2Ksmteg7QMv6YG5UW4d7nc
@rimmersbryggeri
Never knew that I thought Jens was a finland sweden. It explains a great deal though.

Polka, not polska!
@alegagale9231
This is not polka, it's most definitely polska.
@annalottafriskbosnyak3601
mm3k Polska is correct!
@MrHornpipe
Polska is in 3/4 with accent on beat 1 and 3. Polka is in 2/4.
