They'll Never Get Me
Drop Dead Gorgeous Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Not again,
Not again,
Not again,
Not again.
Why did God make glass, to be shattered?
To hold, and to cut?
Your crooked cross covers your eyes.
Forgot my name.
Forgot where I came from.
I died getting here,
Make me gold, I'm waiting.
Call me the Dark Angel.
Don't touch me,
Don't trust me,
Please keep your hands away from me away from away from me.
I'd like to have a word with you.
I'd like to have my way with you,I'd like to have my way with you,I'd like to have my way with you,
Take my time with you,
Share my knife with you.
Don't scare,
Don't scare,
Don't.

Overall Meaning

The song "They'll Never Get Me" by Drop Dead Gorgeous talks about shattered glass, a crooked cross, forgetting one's name and origin, dying to get where one is, and waiting to be made gold. The lyrics suggest that the dark angel is not to be touched or trusted and asks to be kept away from. The singer also mentions that they would like to have their way with someone and share a knife with them, but tells them not to scare.

The singer is waiting for someone to help them become something more valuable, like gold. The mention of the dark angel could also suggest that they are reaching out for help from an otherworldly being.

this is one of the most ambient/moody/creative bands ive heard, reading up on this album and discovering it was a concept album based off of a series of murders called the Salor Lake Murders. Drop Dead Gorgeous captures that eerie, kinda horror flick tone to this song as well as the rest of the album.

I love this song so much. Been listening to these guys since I saw this video on-demand back in the day... It's got like this underlying chill vibe underneath and on top it's this hardcore freak-out. I really wasn't into music like this until I heard this song.
