Originally calling themselves the A Cappella Circle when they were at the University of Waseda, they changed their name to the Gospellers in 1991 after graduating. They spent the next ten years working towards national recognition, releasing 24 singles and 9 albums during that time. They became the first complete a cappella group to be in the top 3 of the Oricon chart ranking in Japan with their song, "HITORI".
In early 2006, the group made a side-project release, Gosperats, featuring the members in blackface and singing with a jazzier accompaniment Rats & Star's member Masayuki Suzuki, Nobuyoshi Kuwano and Yoshio Sato. Many of the western Gospeller fans were upset about the outrage it caused on some discussion forums, many non-fans felt offended by the blackface the group members had chosen to take on. Fortunately, this project was announced as a side-project and released only one album under its name.
The members of Gospellers are now producers for several Japanese artists, including Tatsuya Ishii and Masayuki Suzuki. (This text has been cited from Wikipedia)
FRENZY
ゴスペラーズ Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
誓うぜ yeah!
栄冠は眼中にない
絶叫にこめ身を
捧ぐぜ yeah!
削りだした身体じゅうが
牙を剥いてる
磨きあげた眼差しで狙って
いま FRENZY FRENZY
さあ FRENZY FRENZY
いま FRENZY FRENZY
傍観者なき時代
決定は自分次第 賭けるぜ yeah!
列強に与しない
展開は自由自在 吼えるぜ yeah!
研ぎ澄ました嗅覚が暴れ出してる
鋼のような意志抱いて走れよ
さあ FRENZY FRENZY
いま FRENZY FRENZY
さあ FRENZY FRENZY
いま FRENZY FRENZY
FRENZY FRENZY
いま FRENZY FRENZY
さあ FRENZY FRENZY
いま FRENZY FRENZY
The lyrics to ゴスペラーズ's song FRENZY convey a message of intense passion and dedication to achieve one's goals. The song starts with the line "Hajimari no fue nekkyō ni chūsei," which translates to "The beginning whistle pledges loyalty to frenzy." This line sets the tone for the rest of the song, emphasizing the commitment and enthusiasm for a cause or a dream.
The lyrics also mention the disregard for fame and glory, with the line "Eikan wa gankū ni nai," meaning "The crown is not important." Instead, the focus is on putting one's whole being into the screams and dedicating oneself to the moment. The words "FRENZY FRENZY" are repeated throughout the song, further emphasizing the intense energy and excitement that drives the singer.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of taking control and making one's own decisions. In the line "Bōkansha naki jidai, kettei wa jibun shidai kakeru ze," which means "In an era without bystanders, the decision is up to oneself, let's gamble," the song encourages taking risks and seizing opportunities without relying on others.
