Ohashi got her start in music when she joined a band while she was at Hokkaido University.
Inspired by such artists like Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66 and Janice Joplin, Ohashi hoped to add soulful singing to her music. She later became a DJ at a local radio station before having a part-time job at the Yamada Headquarters in Tokyo.
There, she auditioned for a chance to release music and won a record deal.
In 1974, Ohashi made her debut with the album Feeling Now and the single "Kagi wa Kaeshite". Her second album, Paper Moon, helped to gain Ohashi some popularity. But it wasn't till 1977 with the single "Simple Love" that Ohashi gained a smash hit. Throughout the late 70s and 80s, a couple of her singles also became big hits.

Gimmie your love
Gimmie your love
Get in a dream
Gimmie your love
Get in a dream
In the song "摩天楼のヒロイン" ("Heroine of the Skyscraper") by 大橋純子, the lyrics explore the theme of dreams, hope, and the power of love to transform one's life. The first verse opens with the line "In my hand, I have 5 cents," implying that the singer doesn't have much money and doesn't believe that dreams can be purchased with such little means. However, despite the financial constraints, the singer finds solace in the vibrant future they want to show the person they love.
The chorus, "Gimmie your love, it's not a farewell, it's another way of living," suggests that the love the singer receives from their beloved brings them a new perspective on life. They believe that with this love, they can even buy the future. It's about the significance of having someone's love and support to shape their path.
The second verse explores the idea of being on top of a skyscraper, looking down at the world. It references a person from the past who also went on a journey in search of dreams. The singer feels a connection to this person and shares the same feelings of wanting to achieve their dreams. The line "Get in a dream" implies that by embracing their dreams and aspirations, the singer believes something significant will change.
The bridge section compares the power of jazz music and the singer's personality blending into the city. If they wink back at someone, they feel like they can also blend into the atmosphere of the city. It represents a sense of belonging and being in sync with their surroundings.
The second chorus emphasizes the longing in the singer's voice, questioning why there is distance even in shared kisses. They express their desire to be loved selfishly and to have their affection reciprocated. It highlights the emotional complexities of love.
The following lines depict the beauty of looking into the eyes of their beloved and seeing dreams reflected. The dream acts as a guiding light, illuminating the world for the singer and symbolizing the potential for everything to come together in a single moment. It suggests that in that moment, something significant will change, and the singer will have the chance to become the heroine they aspire to be.
The final line conveys a strong sense of determination and hope. The singer states that they are no longer afraid of anything and that they may become a heroine just by summoning a bit of courage. It encapsulates the transformative power of believing in oneself and the potential for a brighter future.
