Blood Type: A
Ohashi got her start in music when she joined a band while she was at Hokkaido University.
Inspired by such artists like Sergio Mendes & Brazil '66 and Janice Joplin, Ohashi hoped to add soulful singing to her music. She later became a DJ at a local radio station before having a part-time job at the Yamada Headquarters in Tokyo.
There, she auditioned for a chance to release music and won a record deal.
In 1974, Ohashi made her debut with the album Feeling Now and the single "Kagi wa Kaeshite". Her second album, Paper Moon, helped to gain Ohashi some popularity. But it wasn't till 1977 with the single "Simple Love" that Ohashi gained a smash hit. Throughout the late 70s and 80s, a couple of her singles also became big hits.
Weekend

It’s Friday
It’s weekend
It’s Friday
It’s weekend
The song "Weekendはブルー" by 大橋純子 depicts the feelings and experiences surrounding the weekend, particularly the contrast between the excitement and anticipation leading up to it and the emptiness and dread that can accompany the end of the weekend and the start of a new week.
The first verse describes the rush to leave work and the sight of cars filling the streets as symbols of the weekend. The singer notes that on Fridays, the city appears vibrant and full of life, and the anticipation of the upcoming weekend lifts their spirits.
The second verse highlights the familiar routine of commuting to the office, but with a newfound lightness in their step. However, a brief reminder of a forgotten mistake at work briefly occupies their thoughts, reminding them that there is still unfinished business to attend to. Nevertheless, they find solace in the knowledge that once today ends safely, they will be free to enjoy the weekend.
The chorus emphasizes the fleeting nature of the weekend, which feels like it passes in the blink of an eye as they focus on cleaning, laundry, and being engrossed in videos. The passage of time during this month seems unusually fast, and they playfully blame their companion on their commute for distracting them with their charm.
The second verse repeats the sentiments of the first, with the singer expressing disappointment that the weekend they had been eagerly waiting for suddenly loses its allure. The oncoming Monday brings a headache and an early wake-up, causing a sense of emptiness. Yet, despite this feeling of repetition and dreariness, the singer remains determined to face another week and find happiness in the next weekend.
The bridge expresses a desire to cook, make phone calls, and meet friends during the weekend, but also acknowledges the lingering sense of disappointment and the headache-inducing Monday. However, the singer recognizes the cyclical nature of life and the inevitable return of the weekend. They embrace the quick passing nature of the weekend, even though it can occasionally leave them feeling empty, and show resilience in their willingness to continue living and finding joy in the repetition.
