Her agent suspected that she might be good at acting when he found out about Ruby Lin's talent to cry on cue. When she graduated Zhong Xin High School she stared in her first movie role in School Days. Her favorable habits helped her career move forward, and she joined the acting company Yi Ren. The company filmed the TV show Huan Zhu Ge Ge. In the show Ruby was the co-star of the film next to other upcoming artist such as Vicki Zhao and Alec Su. The show boomed with popularity, not only in Taiwan, but in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and many other asian countries.

Since the show had become so popular, the demand for Ruby Lin was high. The show cast members of Huan Zhu Ge Ge all recorded songs for the Official Soundtrack. There was alot of radio-play of the songs, so BMG records signed her to their label. They released a mini album entitled Hearing. The cd sold thousands. So the company took the next step and made a full length album. The cd was called Shuang Mian Lin Xin Ru Tou Huai Song Bao (Two Faces of Ruby Lin). An attempt to make a career on mainland China was a goal, so they released a cover of the Japanese Para Para Paradise song Dum Dum Pistol. The song did quite well and a second, modified version of Shuang Mian Lin Xin Ru Tou Huai Song Bao was released under the name of Para Para.

After Huan Zhu Ge Ge, Ruby Lin starred in many popular movies along side of other actor stars such as Nicholas Tse, Eason Chan, and Joey Yung- just to name a few. The movies were usually targeted to teenagers and were comedies. Although her roles weren't usually main ones, she thrived in the TV series buisness. Today, Ruby has broken away from her character in Huan Zhu Ge Ge and is a much loved tv-star.
