Agency Art One Entertainment announced on Tuesday that singer Maon Kurosaki passed away suddenly on February 16 after a worsening of her chronic illness.
Kurosaki underwent emergency surgery for epidural hematoma (bleeding between the skull and the membrane surrounding the brain) in September 2021, after collapsing during the middle of a live-streamed concert earlier that month.
She died on February 16, 2023 following a period of declining health, after being diagnosed with an epidural hematoma in 2021.
On September 22, 2023, the day Kurosaki had debuted, a memorial event had been held with the name Maon Kurosaki Memorial Days Event "Future & Past", at Shirokane Takanawa Selene.
On September 30, 2023, a crowdfunding project was launched by Art One Entertainment to finish the documentary Maon Kurosaki: The Movie "If You Become Me That Day", which was scheduled to be released in Q2 2023, but was left in a state of uncertainty after Kurosaki's death. The documentary was aiming to follow the artist's path from the collapse in 2021, to the reemergence with the live event in July 31, 2022. To provide an insight into the film, a trailer was also released with the crowdfunding announcement, which was originally suggested by Kurosaki herself during a production meeting for the documentary.

The lyrics of 楽園の翼, written by 黒崎真音, describe a desire to break free from the mundane, gray world that the singer lives in and soar towards a utopian paradise. The song speaks of the wounds inflicted by unnamed sins, which have closed the singer's heart and forced them to smile despite their unhappiness. Despite having known happiness before, the singer has seemingly abandoned it somewhere, leaving them alone in their solitude, a loneliness they cherish, like a poet.
The song then speaks of the gray city, where the singer resides, before promising to set free their wings and soar towards freedom. The lyrics talk of holding tight and not letting go, of screaming until breaking point, of killing gods with words, and of two becoming one in their quest for answers. Despite being punished, the singer is determined to seek closeness with their lover, even if they are denied forgiveness, and to protect them in the end.
楽園の翼 is a particularly deep and poetic song, speaking of the duality of sin and love, and in some ways, contrasts the song's bleak, urban setting with a paradise that seems to be just out of reach.

This is one of my favorite songs and what made me commit to watching the "Grisaia" series. Kurosaki-san may no longer be with us, but her voice and the memories we have gained because of her voice live on. Rest in peace, Kurosaki-san!
