AFI has released eleven studio albums, ten EPs, one live album and one DVD. The band first reached substantial commercial success with their fifth album, The Art of Drowning (2000), which peaked at number 174 on the Billboard 200. They then broke into the mainstream with their sixth, Sing the Sorrow (2003), which peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and remained on the chart for 51 weeks. The album was supported by popular singles "Girl's Not Grey" and "Silver and Cold", both of which peaked at number seven on America's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart in 2003. "The Leaving Song Pt. II" was also released as a single, reaching number 16 on the chart. Sing the Sorrow was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2006 and is AFI's best-selling release, having sold over 1.26 million copies as of September 2009.
AFI's seventh album, Decemberunderground (2006), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit single "Miss Murder", which topped the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart and reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. Another single, "Love Like Winter", reached number four on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2013.[6] Decemberunderground was followed three years later by Crash Love (2009), and then four years later by Burials (2013); both albums were also successful, peaking at number twelve and number nine, respectively, on the Billboard 200. The band's tenth and latest album, AFI (The Blood Album), was released in 2017, and peaked at number five on the Billboard 200, making it their second-highest chart position.
Back Into The Sun

Some of us
Heard what you said
With the dust
In your lungs
And we hush
Show you my face
Calls from great beyond
Our love must return
All has undone
Our love must return now
Back into the sun
Overnight
With restrain
Whispering strange
Still remains
Mispronounced
Each of us
Screaming with pride
In our hearts
In our hearts
And our hearts could soon respose to
Show much anyone
Our love must return
All has undone
Our love must return now
Back into the sun
Our love must return
All has undone
Our love must return now
All has undone
Our love must return now
Back into the sun
The lyrics to AFI's song Back Into the Sun are somewhat obscure and open to interpretation, but they seem to touch on themes of reincarnation or the cyclical nature of life. The verses describe a group of people who have heard someone's words "with the dust in your lungs," possibly implying that they have returned from the afterlife or have otherwise been through a transformative experience. The group hushes and reveals their faces, suggesting that they recognize something significant in the singer's words.
The chorus repeats the phrase "our love must return, all has undone, our love must return now, back into the sun." The idea of returning love back into the sun may represent a sort of spiritual cleansing or rebirth, in which love and positivity are reincorporated into the universe. The final verse describes the group screaming with pride in their hearts and suggests that their hearts could soon respond to "show much anyone," perhaps indicating a desire to spread this message of love and renewal to others.
Overall, the lyrics to Back Into the Sun are somewhat abstract and could be interpreted in a variety of ways. They seem to touch on themes of death and rebirth, spiritual renewal, and possibly the power of love to help us transcend difficult experiences.

None of them, some of us
Heard what you sang, with the dust
In your lungs and we hushed
So you might name each of us
Who respond to calls from fraying wires
Oh I must return, all has undone
Oh I must return, now, back into the sun
Overnight, thinly strained
Whisper and trade stolen names
Mispronounced each of us
Screaming with pride and I hush
And I hush..
And I hush because who responds to charm much anymore
Oh I must return, all has undone
Oh I must return, now, back into the sun
Oh I must return, all has undone
Oh I must return, now, all has undone
Oh I must return, now, back into the sun

The way they blended "calls from fraying wires" and "Oh I must return" is lethal. My favorite band for a reason 💯

I absolutely love this track. It has a very raw 90s alternative sound, the beat and tempo reminds me of something Bush would’ve put out back in the day.

It feels so bittersweet and nostalgic. Davey's voice sounds hopeless yet content.

Couldn't have said it better myself. In love with the song and the lyrics.

This is one of those songs that I truly actually think they hit that special thing again they did with Sing the Sorrow, It doesn't sound like that album but it hits the same feels emotionally. Sooooo good.
