Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Before arriving at their current lineup, Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes, being Hoffmann the last remaining original member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album.
Accept played an important role in the development of speed and thrash metal, and they were part of the German heavy metal scene, which emerged in the early to mid-1980s. They have also been cited as an influence or inspiration by a number of acts, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Testament, Anthrax, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Overkill, Exodus, and Annihilator, as well as fellow Germans such as Helloween, Blind Guardian, Doro, Sodom, Rage, and Grave Digger. Accept achieved its first commercial success with their fifth studio album Balls to the Wall (1983), which is the band's only album to be certified gold in the United States and Canada, and spawned their well-known hit "Balls to the Wall".
Accept have broken up and reformed multiple times. They first split up in 1989, several months after the release of Eat the Heat (which was their only album with Dirkschneider's initial replacement David Reece), but reformed in 1992 and released three more albums before disbanding again in 1997. After briefly reuniting in 2005, Accept announced their third reunion in 2009, with former T.T. Quick frontman Mark Tornillo replacing Dirkschneider (who declined to participate), and the band has recorded five albums with him: Blood of the Nations (2010), Stalingrad (2012), Blind Rage (2014), The Rise of Chaos (2017) and Too Mean to Die (2021); each of those albums renewed Accept's popularity in Germany and entered the top ten charts there.

Zombie Apocalypse
Accept Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Wandering blindly, with no end in sight
Mass communication, hand to hand
A new epidemic has control of this land
They're coming at you one by one
We've got to kill them all
They're coming for us one by one
Society is now deceased
Technology has unleashed the beast
Help me!
It's a Zombie Apocalypse
Save me
From the Zombie Apocalypse
Charging blindly forward, no words being said
Lifeless batteries of the living dead
In search of power, endlessly
For one more hour of mindless ecstasy
They're coming for us one by one
We've got to kill them all
We've got to kill them, one by one
Disconnect them all
Devoid of souls, their lips are sealed
Robots at the grinding wheel
Help me!
It's a Zombie Apocalypse
Save me
From the Zombie Apocalypse
Cryptic messages, from beyond
They roam the land, like the Devil's spawn
On their own, just empty shells
A useless herd of dying cells
Help me!
It's a Zombie Apocalypse
Save me
From the Zombie Apocalypse
Help me!
It's a Zombie Apocalypse
Please, won't you save me
From the Zombie Apocalypse!
The song "Zombie Apocalypse" by Accept is a commentary on the state of society in the modern age. The lyrics describe people who are walking blindly through life, wandering aimlessly with no end in sight. They are controlled by a new epidemic that has taken over the land, and mass communication has only made things worse. This epidemic is clearly a reference to technology, which is portrayed as having unleashed a dangerous beast that has now taken over society.
The song goes on to describe the zombies, charging blindly forward with no words being said. These lifeless batteries of the living dead are in search of power, endlessly seeking one more hour of mindless ecstasy. They are devoid of souls and their lips are sealed, making them mere robots at the grinding wheel. In this context, the "zombie apocalypse" is not a literal event, but a metaphor for the dehumanizing effects of technology on society.
Overall, the song is a warning that we must be careful not to lose touch with our humanity as we become increasingly reliant on technology. It is a call to action to disconnect from the mindless distractions of modern life and reconnect with our inner selves before it is too late.
