Heavily influenced by his idol, Elvis Presley, and the 1950s rock revolution, he is also known as the most famous dancer of the Hula hoop fad. For the last 40 years he has retained his popularity in Italy, selling millions of records and appearing in numerous TV shows and movies (including a short appearance in Fellini's La Dolce Vita, before becoming a famous artist). In the latter respect, he has also been a creator of a comic genre, with his characteristic walking and his facial expressions. For the most part, his films were commercially successful, in fact in the 1970s and part of the 1980s, he was the king of the Italian box office in low budget movies. As an actor, critics point to Serafino (1968), directed by Pietro Germi, as his best effort.
As a director he frequently casts Ornella Muti, Eleonora Giorgi and his wife Claudia Mori. His best movie like director is "Yuppi Du", winner of The Golden Palm at Cannes Festival. He and Claudia are the parents of Rosita, Rosalinda and Vincent Celentano, the latter most notable to worldwide audiences for playing the Satan character in Mel Gibson`s The Passion of the Christ. He also works often as a host for several Italian television shows.
His 1968 song "Azzurro" has regained popularity in 2006, due to it being the anthem of the Italian national football team (the Azzurri) who won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The artist Vincent Fiorello has also created a remix of the song.
His last concert-event in 2012, after 18 years without live performances, was transmitted on Canale 5, with over 9 million viewers both evenings.
Santa Notte

Questa notte reca al cuor
Nell'attesa del grande mister
Veglia trepido il mondo inter
Mentre in una gelida grotta
Nasce il bambino Gesù
Dormi bambin, dolce signor
Tutti gli angeli cantan lassù:
"Gloria, è nato il bambino Gesù"
Dolce notte d'incanto festa di pace sei tu
Va’, lieto suon sul bianco vel
Della neve in questo ciel
Squilla al mondo, campana d'amor
Benedici Gesù redentor che nel freddo Natale
Scese fra noi quaggiù
Giungono già principi e re
Per deporre innanzi a te
Con i doni la fede del cuor
Il più puro di tutti i tesor
Nella notte divina tutti adoriamo Gesù
Giungono già principi e re
Per deporre innanzi a te
Con i doni la fede del cuor
Il più puro di tutti i tesor
Nella notte divina tutti adoriamo Gesù
The song "Santa Notte" by Adriano Celentano is a beautiful Italian Christmas carol that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. The lyrics convey the sense of anticipation and wonder that fills the world on this holy night. The first verse speaks of the heart trembling in anticipation of the great mystery that is about to unfold, as the world awaits the birth of baby Jesus in a cold and humble cave.
The second verse addresses the baby Jesus directly, encouraging him to sleep peacefully under a sky filled with golden stars. It mentions that all the angels are singing "Gloria" (glory) in heaven, announcing the birth of the baby Jesus. The lyrics describe the night as one of enchantment and peace, and it calls for the joyful sound of bells to bless the savior who descended upon Earth during this cold Christmas.
The third verse speaks of the arrival of princes and kings, bringing gifts and the faith of their hearts to lay before baby Jesus. It emphasizes that the purest of all treasures is the faith that they offer. The lyrics also highlight the universal act of adoration on this divine night, as everyone worships Jesus.
Overall, "Santa Notte" is a reverent and poetic song that captures the essence of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus and the joy and peace that his coming brings to the world.
