Born Alfredo Sánchez Luna in Caracas, Venezuela, Sadel was affectionately called "The Favorite Tenor of Venezuela". He adopted his stage name by combining the last syllable of his surname with the last syllable of the surname of his favorite idol, tango singer Carlos Gardel. According to musician Aldemaro Romero, Sadel became Venezuela's heart-throb due to his huge popularity with the feminine audience. Being in the peak of his popularity he was shown to the doors of Hollywood, but convinced of his conditions for the bel canto, he went to Europe to cultivate his spirit through the serious music, studying in important conservatories, to devote himself to the opera and zarzuela genres.
The means meanness certain and his political affinity carried difficulties to him in his country. Nevertheless, he was acclaimed. He made films in Cuba and Mexico next to Graciela Naranjo and Amador Bendayán, among other important Venezuelan artists.
Sadel died in Caracas, Venezuela, at age of 59.
Amores De Estudiante

Hoy un juramento
Mañana una traición
Amores de estudiante
Flores de un día son.
En unos labios ardientes
Dejar una promesa
Quiero calmar los enojos
De aquellos claros ojos
Siempre mintiendo amor.
Por un mirar que ruega
Perder la quietud
Mujercitas sonrientes
Que juran virtud
Es una boca loca
La que hoy me provoca
Hay un collar de amores
En mi juventud.
Fantasmas del pasado
Perfumes de ayer
Que evocaré doliente
Plateando mi sien
Bandadas de recuerdos
De un tiempo querido
Lejano y florido
Que no olvidaré.
Hoy, un juramento
Mañana una traición
Amores de estudiante
Flores de un día son.
In the song "Amores de Estudiante" by Alfredo Sadel, the lyrics describe the transient nature of love and the cycle of promises and betrayals. The first stanza sets the tone of the song with the lines "Hoy un juramento, mañana una traición" (Today a pledge, tomorrow a betrayal) and continues to describe the fleeting nature of love, particularly during the youthful years of a student's life. The second stanza paints a picture of a passionate encounter, with the persona wanting to ease the anger in the eyes of his lover. The third stanza describes the fickleness of young women who pretend to be virtuous but are quick to give in to their desires. The fourth stanza introduces the metaphor of a "collar of loves" collected during one's youth, while the last stanza speaks of memories of past loves evoked with a sense of longing.
Through these lyrics, Sadel seems to express a mixture of cynicism and nostalgia towards the ups and downs of young love. The use of metaphors such as "flores de un día" (flowers of a day) and "fantasmas del pasado" (ghosts of the past) further emphasize the ephemeral nature of these experiences. At the same time, the vivid language used to describe the moments of passion and the memories that linger on indicates a strong emotional attachment to those times.
Overall, "Amores de Estudiante" is a poignant reminder of the joy and pain that comes with falling in love during the youthful years, and how those experiences shape one's outlook on life.
