Lee grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA. He has been quoted as saying that he is fortunate to have seen different sides of life in America. Lee enrolled at the University of South Carolina in 1995. He began to play guitar and write songs seriously while he studied English. After graduating with an English degree, Lee moved back to Philadelphia to teach elementary school. He later made the tough decision to stop teaching in order to pursue a career in music. Shortly thereafter, he released a self-produced EP that featured five of his original songs, which did extremely well in Philadelphia and created a buzz. Norah Jones was the person who finally gave Lee his big breakthrough when she asked him to open for her 2004 tour. Lee then went on to produce his self-titled debut album. In March and April of 2005 Lee opened for the tour that Merle Haggard and Bob Dylan were both embarking on, all 3 performers were extremely well received by critics as the tour went by, with Dylan receiving some of his strongest reviews in years. On October 3, 2006, Lee released his second album, "Supply & Demand" to critical and commercial acclaim.
At the age of only 27, Amos Lee has enjoyed notable success with his debut album and looks to have a promising future in the music business. His favorite artists and sources of inspiration include Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, John Prine, Bill Withers, and James Taylor.

I know it's been a long time coming
You say you've been, out there a long time running
You used to be so beautiful
But you lost it somewhere along the way
You used to be so beautiful
But it's easier now to walk away
That wonder wall you're waiting for is now collapsing
Tell me more, but wait no no
Let me find out what you're asking for
You used to be, so beautiful
But you lost it somewhere along the way
You used to be so beautiful
And it's easier now to walk away
Away, away
Now you have everything that you have ever wanted
Oh it's so sad to see
When the hunter becomes the hunted
You used to be, so beautiful
But you lost it somewhere along the way
You used to be so beautiful
And I'm sorry now I don't have more to say
In the song Hello Again by Amos Lee, the singer is addressing someone who he has not seen for a long time. The person has been running and wandering for a long time, and has lost some of their beauty along the way. The singer reminisces about how the person used to be so beautiful, but now it is easier for them to walk away from things. The "wonder wall" that the person has been waiting for is collapsing, and the singer wants to know what they are asking for.
The singer observes that the person has everything they have ever wanted, but it is sad to see that they have become the hunted instead of the hunter. The song concludes with the singer expressing regret that he does not have more to say.
The lyrics of the song convey a sense of nostalgia and longing for something that has been lost over time. The singer seems to be saying that although the person has achieved everything they ever wanted, they have lost something precious along the way. The song could be interpreted as a cautionary tale about the cost of success, and how it can sometimes come at the expense of our inner beauty.
