She was born in Granada in 1970. At 16 years of age Amparo had her first band, Correcaminos. From then, she had been occasionally involved with other Blues, Jazz, Rock'n'roll and Soul music groups as a singer. It was the music of the blacks that gave her the air to breathe. Lee Brillaux of Dr. Feelgood called her ‘the white women with the soul of a black never stop singing’.
She released her last album "La vida te da" at the beginning of 2006.
Como Yo
Amparanoia Lyrics

The first verse of Amparanoia's song Como Yo is all about the singer's life on the road as a musician. The lyrics suggest a sense of chaos and disorder, with the singer's instruments causing a commotion and losing her wallet along the way. Despite these challenges, the singer keeps thinking about someone special and feels committed to survival. The chorus shifts to a more positive and uplifting tone, with the singer expressing her desire to share her life with this person, and how her music (which encompasses different genres like sabma, bolero, reggae, rumba and son) helps her cope with the ups and downs of life.
The second verse talks about the power of the music and the attraction the singer feels towards the person she is singing to. The phrase "no traigo balas pero traigo el fuego" is a metaphor that suggests that she may not have material things to offer, but she is passionate and fiery. She urges the person to understand why she's there, and to listen to the words she's saying. Again, the chorus reinforces the idea that sharing one's experiences and singing about them can help make life better, and the repetition of the phrase "como yo" is a celebration of individuality and uniqueness.
Overall, the song Como Yo is a cheerful and upbeat affirmation of the power of music to express emotions, build connections, and help us navigate the challenges of existence.
